Fun fact since it’s inception the US has gone from number one to near the bottom amongst its peers

Also only 25 pct of the money goes to educating kids

In spite of us spending more per child than those finishing ahead of us?

Absolutely abolish it.

US education is ranked pretty low right now compared to other countries. For the amount of money they spend you can see why. Give it back to the state and locals to run their schools.

She is part of the problem. But the department of education could be cut in half easily. Save a pile a money and let the states take care of the states as they see fit.

At least 75 pct because only 25 pct goes to
Kids education.

I remember when my Dad said back in the 80's that the Dept. of Education should not exist. He was right then and he's right now. It should never have been created.

So, what happens when the funding ends and the sky doesn't fall?

I don't know. I mean let's look at this from investment/payback right? What is the function/goal of the Dept of Education. I don't see it as rising the tide to lift all boats. But to pull back more so those succeeding and achieving fall back so the lowest common denominator is closer to them, that there is less of a gap. I see that as bad, a really bad mission statement. Tell me I am wrong, because the results reflect exactly this.

If only we spent more money on education we could further lower the test scores
