As I have mentioned before I work at the University of Pittsburgh and every once in a while I get to interact with some of the players. Last season I got to share some stories about Kenny Pickett and Carson Van Lynn.
Today I got to spend a few minutes talking with Carter Warren and I asked him about how spring practice was going and what it was like to be running with the 1's. He basically said how exciting it is and how his hard work is starting to pay off. He just now has to work his butt off to stay there. He is every bit his 6'7, 315 listing. Although he is a very athletic looking 315, no fat on this kid.
I have a picture on my desk of me, the wife and kid in our Pitt football jerseys. He asked if I was a football fan and I said 11 year season ticket holder. He asked if I thought my son would like an autograph and I said he sure would. He signed it right there and was happy to do it.
I asked him if they got to see the new uniforms yet and he said in a disgusted voice "no". They wont let us even have a peak but we are all "jazzed" to see them. I asked if they were going to pick him to model the uniforms and his response was that they better pick him. He said who wouldn't want to see this big sexy body modeling those unis. He started laughing and we both got a good laugh out of that one.
He was a very genuine and funny guy to talk with. Cared about my kid and was more then happy to just talk with a fan while he waited. I wished him good luck and he thanked me. A real nice classy kid and someone Pitt Football fans can get behind and cheer for. Great example of a Pitt Student Athlete.
