I get it .. this is a fan board and fans judge by emotion. Live in Louisville now where they are as critical of Pitino as many of us are of Dixon ... so I looked into some stats about how Dixon "handcuffs" his players.
This year (stats are per game):

And Pitt played in the tougher ACC!
Sure, our shooting % was lower (thus the difference in PTS/GM of 74.4 vs 67) but we shot as often as the "wild"cats. Our problem was DEFENSE ... 47% given up in the ACC play. The whole "Jamie handcuffs" his players is absurd!
Recruiting of late due to the Adams departure and the 2011 debacle has left us Young and a bit of a void. But the creation of Jamie offense myth is mostly ignorant. Gibbs, Patterson, Young ... all shooting quite a bit. Gibbs alone jacked up over 200 3's for 3 straight seasons ... hell, his Jr. year he averaged a 3 attempt ever 4.8 minutes ... and almost 7 per game! Young's 145 3 attempts were more than Booker's for Kentucky this year and and took almost 15 shots per game. Patterson's last year he put up 206 3's and was taking 13 shots/gm.
... just sayin!
