The ACC got some good news as the SEC mostly went with lottery tickets this round. Huge difference than hiring Buzz, Pearl, Musselman, Barnes, and Wade.
1. Florida - Todd Golden - closer to a guarantee than a lottery ticket but doesn't fit either category as a coach from a high major league. What he did in taking a historically terrible program to the NCAAT is exactly what SMF Analytics looks for in these hires.
2. Mississippi State - Chris Jans - not a fan of hiring coaches from traditional mid-major powers but he's the best of a bad crop
3. LSU - Matt McMahon - see above
4. Missouri - Dennis Gates, only been a HC 3 years. Hasn't done enough
5. South Carolina - Lamont Paris - never finished higher than 4th until this year. He had a P6 level big guy which you rarely see at the MM level and that played a large part in him winning the SoCon. I don't like coaches whose success is due mostly to getting lucky on 1 player.
3 of these 5 will be fired within 5 years.
