All lost to a worse seed.

Who else?

Apparently.... just having a segment of the Pitt fan base want you for HC curses you to an early exit to a worse seed.

No. I really like Will Wade, Chris Mack, and Butler's coach.

The 3 you mentioned would never have been top 3 on my list.

Yes. But there is ALWAYS a "Coach du jour"! Until he effs up, too, that is.

Jamie Dixon, Matt Painter, and Sean Miller are all in that same category and guys that always have their teams underachieve in March. No thx to guys with a track record of underachieving in March. At least Andy Enfield overachieved one year in March. Dixon had beaten what one team with a higher seed ever?

I have not been one to rant about replacing JD but if you're being honest with yourself, you have to be concerned about the direction the program has been heading. I think most on here are but are rooting for him to turn the thing around. Next year is a big year for JD and the program, in terms of on the court performance and recruiting. He really needs to follow up this class, which looks decent on paper, with more help at the 4/5 and 2/3.

At any rate, all coaches have ups and downs. You hope the down seasons don't lead to mutli year slumps but it is almost unavoidable over a long career. Pointing out the failures of the coaches above in one post season to defend JD is kind of silly. The people who are down on JD are down on him because he never fully capitalized on the good run of talent the program had by getting to the FF. The argument isn't about failing in one particular year. Miller has done well at UA but of course it is a blue blood program so the expectations are much higher. Lute Olsen had quite a few flame outs in his career as well.

Archie has done a pretty good job at Dayton compared to his predecessor Gregory. Again there's no shame in one early out.

For sure the Jury is out on Enfield. However he has taken a really bad USC program and appears to have put some life back into it. They have a pretty young team and I expect them to make some noise in the next few years. I think the guy is a good coach but we shall see.

I think you're crazy if you want Dixon replaced. The staff, however, needs shaken up. When I watch your star player(s) walk right by the teams top assistant without acknowledging him, some things need to change.

They don't acknowledge Dixon during timeouts!

I understand the notion from anyone who thinks it's time to replace Dixon. However, I simply cannot support narratives such as this which simply are not true.

Drive by crap posts with no validity. Much like his so called "long list of Pitt transfers who have thrived elsewhere".

Yeah..........if you want to point out the downward trend in performance, and recruiting misses........that's fair criticism. However there is a lot of over analysis of what has gone wrong. Its really pretty simple, JD has not recruited well enough and has had too many misses. The real question is, how much of a difference will guys like Kithcart and the big make and assuming the 16 class is pretty decent can he follow it up with another good glass in 17 to change the trajectory of the program.

Id add that I don't think this team was far off from realizing expectations. IMO if they can win one game in the tourney it will have been a decent year, despite some of the low points. I also don't think this team is far off from being pretty darn good either. If they had either a guy like Gary McGee to help out on the boards and defensively, or a 2 that could compliment JROB, I think this team could have done some damage in the tourney.
