How much is the rest of our roster worth?
I know someone made a last minute run at a couple of our defensive studs and they didn't bite. What we don't know is if Pitt ponied up to keep these guys, or any others for that matter. Since Pitt isn't allowed to be directly involved in arranging/financing this, who did they go to for the $$$???
This is the first real shot fired out of the NIL cannon that a lot of us feared. So how much more $$ does Pitt, or any other similarly situated program need to keep their best players?
With our donor history, how in the world are we going to get enough $$ flying around to keep 22 starters in football and 6 or 7 decent hoops players happy in order to compete in the ACC? How long before this becomes directly related to recruiting prep players on a routine basis?? If this follows similar patterns, these kids will soon be priced well out of the range of most colleges.
Does anyone paying attention, ie, NCAA, Conferences, Networks, NFL, coaches, boosters, fans, think this is in any way good for the long term health and viability of college football as anything resembling a fair and competitive entity??
