Is that socialism and do you agree that this is a proper measure.

I'd say it is absolutely an example of socialism and is the right thing to do.

This means what I have said all along. That those who like to use the word "socialism" as a scary tactic, are in reality socialists themselves.

And if you are unable to admit this it's socialism, then at least admit it is an example of wealth redistribution in the best interest of everyone.

What were the greatest decades in the history of Americans? Mostly times we were operating like the socialist country we are.

People who aren't paying for health insurance can get a test done for free. That means you and I are paying for them to get the test. That's wealth redistribution.
Show me where wealthy people can not get the test?

That would be an example of wealth distribution. Taking from one income level and giving to another. This has no restrictions; everybody qualifies.

Try harder.

Umm
Hospitals are charging the government for reimbursement
It’s not free
Tax dollars are paying for them
Just like Medicare and Medicaid

Then single payer health insurance is not socialism?

If they are referring to "uninsured" as americans who have no insurance then yes I am for that. If they are referring to illegals....tell them to get the hell out of our country!

The whole socialism word is completely dumb.

Of course the USA is part socialism and part capitalism. We are not a capitalist country. We have a minimum wage, medicare, labor laws, etc...

Any good anything uses the best policies, qualities of many thoughts, competitors, ideals, etc to make something that is better.

Its an action taken in an unusual situation to be sure there's a favorable outcome.

That's one of the ways the free market works. There's lots of options and choices.

This is nothing more than good policy during a pandemic. Stop trying to fit an agenda.

I'm not sure how you get single payer system out of anything going on, but I really don't want to know how you twisted that, either.

I'm taping out.
I think what these people are saying is this crisis presents a great opportunity to implement their ridiculous ideology.

These ideas only win when people are not thinking clearly.

Medicare isn't socialism. People paid into the fund, and they pay to have Medicare at 65.
The Minimum wage isn't socialism either, people work for an hourly wage, their don't get stuff for free, and labor laws just put order in the labor market place.
Social security isn't socialism because Amercian contribute to SS throughout their working days and draw from the fund at retirement.
If fact many like myself wish they had their SS contributions and were able to invest them on their own and have a self funded retirement free of the government.

Welfare for those who never worked, generational welfare is as close to socialism as it gets in America.

Not much socialism in America.

Socialism-
Free college
Free medical
Universal income for no work

Oh. You think social security funds only go to people who have worked their entire lives?

Makes absolutely no sense to not want an immigrant to get tested for a deadly virus

Wow, I actually feel dumber after reading this thread. Does ANYONE think the research companies/universities are giving these tests away for free? No, they will be selling them and the govt will be using OUR tax dollars to pay for them so they will be free in this situation. The research companies/universities are racing each other to develop the tests b/c the first one will be making a ton of cash!! This my friends the very definition of CAPITALISM.
To the person who started this thread, please don’t try to make this situation political.

You're wrong

Everything I said was factual. It is not capitalism. They are all socialized democracy.

By the way, school is free for every school kid now. How on earth do you forget that? Medical care is subsidized now. Unemployment benefit is already in the usa.

on the school thing....those of us with no kids but paying school taxes beg to differ.....

Socialism is the new phrase, some people love to uses as a label and to degrade people who need help.

when does it end!

So tired of this nonsense.
Some of the biggest responsibilities we have in this country are taking advantage of the provided educational opportunities, then providing for the education of the generations to follow.
You don’t get to ignore that responsibility because you have no children for whatever reason.

Now it's ok for Biden to promise that people should not be worried about the cost for virus testing or treatment? OMG Joe how are you going to pay for that?

Socialism, welfare state, what's the difference. Some get a lot for free some get a little for free. In this country those with the greatest needs get government handouts, there are also those who have little to no needs and make huge amounts of money that also get government handouts.
