This athletic program is cursed. And we have people like Heather Lyke having us in a position to break the curse, and we have idiots calling for her head. We’ve never won an NCAA National title in 120 years but very well still could win one as early as this year…but let’s run her out. Yeah makes sense.
I think we were a #4 RPI. So we will have a high seed. Being the #1 team in the ACC regular season is impactful. But my guess is a #2 seed. For me though, this team never really got it going this year. I wouldn’t expect much.
I have a lot of those people on ignore. Can't stand them anymore. Nothing is good enough and quite honestly they probably provide very little support.
You don't follow the team and don't understand. Veljko Petkovic is the best player in the nation and hasn't played in 6 weeks. Rodrigo Almeida is our leading scorer and is injured and didnt play the last 2 games. Notre Dame is a 1 seed if they win Sunday. We are not Alabama without those 2 players. We will not win the NC or make the College Cup without Petkovic. Its simply remarkable that this team got the 1 seed in the ACCT despite all their injuries. That's not making excuses. You cant just lose the best player in the nation and your leading scorer and expect to be the same team. Plus you had Jasper missing games mid-season (2 losses without him), Ordonez missed a game they lost. They've just been cursed this year. Hopefully they can get healthy for the NCAAT but if not, I don't see them getting past the Sweet 16 or Elite 8.....and the funny thing is, that would seem like a failure to many Pitt fans while the team down the street might be lucky to win a game this season.
With all their important players, they'd win it all but that's probably not going to happen. They are so short-handed that they had to play a walk-on from Norwin 11 minutes in the 1st Half and he looked like it.

Me and maybe 2-3 others on this board. Pitt has been decimated with injuries and will still get a pretty good seed.
SMF - Where was everyone? Clagette and Pepperach were in the stands in street clothes. Mort wasn't in the building. Neither was Matt Bailey, and he literally started the previous game. Matuszewski wasnt there. Why aren't these guys dressing? Did any of them quit

Thats kind of the mystery. I was watching the bench players before the game doing their usual "keep away" drill and I thought to myself...I hope Vidovich doesn't plan on using his bench tonight. Based on the roster, I suppose Clagette, Peperak, and Matuszewski quit which is very odd since Clagette played on Sunday and is the likely starter at RB next season. Peperak played a few games ago and Matuszewski is the 4th CB behind 3 seniors who could start next season.
Would it kill anyone in the Pittsburgh media to cover this team? The best player in the nation hasn't played since October 1 and nobody will ask what's wrong with him? Will he play again?
This is frustrating. But I guess that’s what you get with a niche sport. It’s like you have to have a direct connection to the team or be a parent to know what’s going on.
Speaking of coverage, with the lack of coverage anywhere, I’m not sure how you can definitively say that petkovik is the best player in the country.
I have eyes. Also, Top Drawer rated him #1 preseason and #4 currently (after injury) so if he isn't, he's pretty close to it. He is USMNT B or C team level in the future I believe. He's that good and a massive loss
How hard would it be for someone to get an injury report? Has he been involved in warmups?
He has been in warmups a few times and even played the 2nd Half against VT last week after we were beating them 3-0 up a player so I took that as a sign they were just trying to get his fitness up. He looked like himself, almost had a cheeky little combo that nearly resulted in a goal but I haven't even seen him in warmups since.
Either he is being rested to recover more, or he caused an injury setback playing in the VT game.
