I was a 15 year old when Majors came to Pitt in 1973. A "Major Change in Pitt Football".
* Major's was responsible for the Pitt Script and the new colors on the uniforms. Reportedly, he took the old uniforms out and had a Bon Fire and burnt them all.
* Major's got rid of all the dead wood players and rebuilt Pitt's roster from the ground up. He brought in 76 scholarship players his first year. Causing the NCAA to put a cap of 30 and then 25 the next seasons. I'm sure this was led by Ped State .
* His coaching staff included Jackie Sherrill, Jimmy Johnson, Pat Jones. Dave Wannstadt amongst others. How's that for some top caliber assistants!!
* Pitt's AD Caz Mylinski had the foresight to get Majors and Pitt was stupid enough to force out Caz and put Pitt into the death spiral for 40 years. By the way, Caz Mylinski's nephew played for Majors at Tennessee.

Majors famously told his players during his 1st Brutal training camp, "Those who stay will be Champions" and he was right!
