-Terrible, terrible start.
-However, we are still much better than last year and probably a NCAA team. Last years team would have given up and lost this game by 20-30.
-Zoo sounded great, rest of arena not so much.
-Artis didn't play terribly, just didn't shoot well. He made some really nice passes.
-Jeter is so bad on defense, he is a major liability unless he scores 15+.
-I thought Smith played very well, he just doesn't take enough shots. His D and rebounding are much better than any of our other candidates.
-JRob and Mike both played at an all ACC level last night.
-Maia provided a nice spark.
-Luther is a nice player, but playing out of position.
-Cam's length helped on D, but quick shots hurt on O. If he hits 1 or 2 of his 3's at the right time, we may have blown it open.
-Not impressed by Ano and his 3 was a terrible shot at that time.
-Purdue will likely go to sweet 16 or better.
-Let's beat the Dukes. Won't be easy, but their D probably worse than ours.

Good points John.

Jeter is so streaky. When he is hot, he can help us. When he isn't, he can be a real liability. But, he's our 3rd forward and he's gonna get lots of minutes. We can only hope he stays in the same zipcode with his man when we're on defense.

ANO needs to step up or his minutes will go to Maia and Luther. His main contribution was getting his head in the way of Haas's elbws. I think he CAN play better. Physiclly, he should be the best option at 5. But he has to prove it.

I keep waiting for Cam's jumpers to fall. Unfortunately, it may not be this year. At least he has learned to use his length on defense. I think he can be a special player eventually.

Smith needs to take shots and Cam needs to make shots. They both need to score more in order to get more minutes, because they both can do other things well. Smith is a very good rebounder and Cam seemed to be a pretty disruptive defender in the zone defense.

Jeter and Jones are capable of having very good games, but it feels like a bonus when they do. I just don't feel they are reliable on a consistent basis.

There was no one in upper deck to speak of no wonder no noise
Actually, there WERE folks up there, not counting the Zoo overflow. Too many empty seats in the club sections, a growing problem. We need something to excite people again....maybe Khem Birch BobbleHead night or the Dental School Drill Team??

I love how people season tix holders and others complain about the noncon schedule, theny they play a ranked team and don't show up....

I had 2 major thoughts. It is not wise to get down 17 points to a legit top 10 teams early in the game.

Pitt then played very well to actually take the lead but the difference maker was that Hammonds dude. No answer for him as he dominated the second half.

I've noticed the same thing. The club seats behind the teams have been maye 1/3 full. It would be interesting to niw hw many club seats are actually unsold compared to just empty on game nights.

The past 5 years or so, with the slight exception of the first ACC season, no-shows for allbut BIG games have been a huge problem. This is not a basketball town, but an event town. And, Pitt hoops games are no longer an event, unless the opponent is Duke, UNC or ND.

If these seats are not solded why not expand the number of tickets allocated to the students. Get some enthusiasm in that building.

The entire lower bowl is sold out with the exception of the scattered singles.

Clubbies are too cheap. I'd assume the donors that sit there are rich enough that they are donating to Pitt not specifically for those seats. Then Pitt sends them a letter saying they qualify for prime seats for the ultra cheap price of $500 which is what the Duke game is worth in itself. So they buy the tickets, why not, they're super rich? Theb they go to 4 games. Give some away and most are left unused.

My solution: tiered pricing.

Clubs should be $1000-$1500 per season plua donation

Other lower level should be $750 plus donation

Upper sideline should be $500 plus donation

Upper endzone and corners should be $300, no donation

Seeing as to how the students only actually fill their allotment maybe two or three times a year what difference would it really make? For instance at the Purdue game the student seats weren't all filled. If there were 500 or 1000 more student seats there still would have been the exact same number of students there, and those 500 or 1000 seat would have all been empty.

What about Fireworks Night - that is a guaranteed big draw.
