Let's see what we had going tonight:
National TV Audience......check
Beatable Opponent..........check
Coming off a bit of momentum from past 2 games.......check
Home Field Advantage.......check
Badly needed recruits at the game......check
Another Shit the Bed Loss.......check
Pitt football is like watching a bad movie. No matter how many times you watch, it still turns out bad.
A few more observations:
1. To those who think our defense is not a problem I seriously want to know if you have any freakin idea what you're watching. NC had receivers who were so open that half of the posters on this board could have hit them. Their running backs gashed us when we knew they were going to run. It simply doesn't get any worse. And we've been watching this shit show for 3 years.
2. It's so damned obvious that DiNucci is never, ever going to be a decent P5 QB. At best, he might develop into a game manager. That said, this team is nowhere near good enough to win with a game manager at QB.
3. If Narduzzi doesn't play Pickett to get him some experience, then he's dumber and more stubborn then I thought. (BTW - I predict that Pickett will not see the field for the remainder of the year unless DiNucci gets hurt or we're in a complete blowout - which is likely). Narduzzi should absolutely be called on the carpet for his moronic handling of Pickett this year. And we wonder why we can't recruit a QB?
4. There is simply no way that our DB's are as bad as they looked tonight. NC had guys running completely wide open all night long with no Pitt defender within 5 -10 yards. These have to be blown coverages or a completely retarded scheme. Either way, it's on the coaches.
5. Our LB's simply suck. Once in a while someone will make a play but how many times can we watch receivers or RB's ramble right through the heart of our defense and you can't even find one of our LB's in the picture.
6. Our receivers are pretty pedestrian. Somewhat in DiNucci's defense, how many times did you see ANY Pitt receiver running wide open? Exactly zero. It puts a lot of pressure on your QB when he is constantly forced to "throw a receiver open".....DiNucci is simply nowhere near that good to pull that off.
7. If Narduzzi doesn't make some serious changes to his staff in the off season then he will be signing his own ticket out of town a few years down the road.
On the bright side, at least we won't have to endure another week of nonsensical posts talking about how we might become bowl eligible if we can only beat VaTech or Miami. This season is officially dead.
