Speaking of Coaching hotseats...

Wow. That is almost Pitt like in enjoying the glory, looking like you have become the big dog in Texas (which would be a pretty damn big dog) and then have Lucy come and pull the football out from under you again.

It would appear Kevin Sumlin's seat just got a whole helluva lot hotter.

Lots of turmoil in the Lonestar state's marquee programs while Baylor, TCU and Houston continue to flourish.
This is why I welcome your posts and because you bring up good CFB Topics and speak your opinion that helps all of us to share and learn.

I think Houston could make a great Candidate for the ACC if Texas does not leave the Big-12 and expands.

Baylor and TCU are places WVU can look at to be better in the Big-12 but go with a Power Running Game. WVU has most its entire Offense back in 2016! I expect 9 to 10 wins! If not, I expect a New Coach?

Additionally, TCU & Baylor they are good models for rebuilding the Pitt Program with a consistent Coaching that stays longer than 5 years, but uses the Big Ten Models of MSU & Wisconsin and eventually build a New Dome 35,000-50,000 Stadium with practice Modern Practice Facilities with partnership with CMU near Pitt Campus.!

Any thoughts on your own?

This should be a memo to all Pitt fans.....Even if and I say if Pitt becomes more successful on the field, there is no reason to gloat and piss over other teams in the state....karma is a bitch and A&M is finding that out when Texas blows by them again...

Not that it necessarily means anything but the President of A&M gave Sumlin vote of support yesterday:

Texas A&M: School president Michael Young says he supports Kevin Sumlin and looks forward to seeing him lead the Aggies next season.

Sumlin seems like a good coach. Programs are just getting out of control. Its like everyone needs to be Alabama or they feel insecure. Definitely cannot blame coaches for taking new jobs, they know if there's a dip - they'll be fired.

Sumlin walked into a loaded situation: Manziel, Mike Evans, two O-linemen who were drafted in the top-10 along with others. Now that they're all gone the job became tougher. His agent his throwing his name out there for NFL jobs but teams aren't too interested, and why would they be?

This is a great example of "be careful what you wish for". Most people at A&M were excited about joining the SEC...play the big boys... more prestige....lots more money. But guess what? All that money and prestige may help the finances of the institution, but at the end of the day, it's a whole lot harder to win big and win consistently in SEC. At the end of the day, I think most fans would rather win the Big 12 then finish 4th or 5th in the SEC.

This is one of the reasons I like Pitt in the ACC. It seems to be a reasonable balance of realistic schedule, prestige, and money.

Everything goes in cycles. Even Alabama had their "down" years.

Who'd a-thunk a team like Southern Cal would've had "down time" after their great years in the 1970's?

Excellent Post, and I agree with your views and met some A&M Fans that just upset with Texas as well as Nebraska Fans were too, on not allowing Unlimited Non-Qualifiers and OU is still upset wanting more Big-12 Expansion? Texas won't play A&M anymore either? When Texas built the largest Stadium TV Monitor, A&M built one two feet bigger?

Very much mirrors what Penn State did when joining the Big Ten. At first, did very well the first 4 years in the Big Ten beating Michigan and Ohio State and going undefeated in 1994 and Big Ten School's Media and Coaches refused to have them share with Nebraska NCS in 1994, but voted Michigan a share in 1998?

After 1996, Penn State slowly went into a demise losing more often to Michigan and OSU, and lost to Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota and did not really compete for Big Ten Titles that often.

They got a lot more money but also lost more games and Alumni could no longer travel to Away Games like they did had they joined the ACC and sell out most of those Stadiums! This has changed a tad since Maryland & Rutgers added.

Still, Penn State would have remained the biggest University and Premier Football Program in the ACC and Winning would have been easier challenged only by FSU, Clemson, VT and Miami. But Penn State fits right there with Big Ten Universities except NW and money more important as known from the Penn State Football Scandal that also revealed Non-Compliance's & LOIC found so they could compete better and still lost more games??

This is one of the reasons I like Pitt in the ACC. It seems to be a reasonable balance of realistic schedule, prestige, and money.
Agree, Pitt fits better in the ACC with all the ACC Schools Size, Locations, and would have been the Second Smallest School in the Big Ten had they been invited?

Penn State will always have the more Revenue Resources in the Big Ten, but the Wins will always be less too, since Programs just as big in the Big Ten will always find Coaches that win at Michigan, OSU, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Nebraska even as Penn State does the same?

Pitt has better future in the ACC to increase its Wins and build their Program among Schools their same size, bigger footprint in growing south, and with the Richest Football History in the ACC too!

WVU can't compete with the top Big 12 teams year in and year out.Their location just doesn't sit well with the kind of athletes needed to win in the Big 12.Their State produces those kind about 1 every 4 years and their region has too many big time programs for them go get enough athletic players to compete.TOSU West,Pitt&PSU to the north,MD East,Va&Va Tech to the south its tough recruiting.Holgy is a Texas Area guy and those kids arenty coming to WVU in the numbers that's needed! If Holgorsen goes 8-5 again his seat goes from hot to Sunnyside flaming!

It shows you how these coaches need to strike while the iron is hot. A couple years ago Sumlin almost certainly could have had an NFL job if he wanted, now his college job is in jeapordy.

Until this magic season Kirk Ferentz was another guy that could have moved on to much better things, but instead stayed at Iowa and was in danger of being booted. Pat Fitzgerald as well.

Sumlin seemed like the real deal. This QB thing may be his undoing, plus a mediocre record the past past few seasons.

I think its a combination of things. Two QBs transferring out, the struggles in the SEC, Not really competing in their games against Alabama, and also having so many other "smaller" programs in their state having more success (Houston, TCU, Baylor)

I guess back to back 8-5 seasons doesn't set well either with their fan base. Apparently, they aren't into realistic expectations in Aggieland. I was shocked that Vulva was criticized for not firing the hoops coach, because they are obviously improving.
