Stallings:
1 - His hiring was so very shady.
2 - He could not recruit.
3 - He was a horrible representative of the University.
4 - He turned a rabid fan base that sold out the Pete into yielding the lowest attended games in the history of the program at the Pete.
5 - I can’t look up the data now, but the win percentage at home in the Pete was insane until he watered down that number.
This is not a doom and gloom post. The above was so obvious, but interestingly that doesn’t translate into making a change at Pitt or college basketball all of the time.
Pitt needed two things, someone to fire Stallings immediately, and a spectacular hire to make an impact from day 1.
I am thankful for HL. She got rid of Stallings before his contract was over. She took a lot of heat initially because of the perception of the buyout, and she hired a total stud.
JCIII, thank you for bringing the program back. I am so excited for the future under your command.
