In his situation, it was clear he could not recruit.

If, big IF, Capel does not get it done NOW, he will most certainly be viewed the same way.

Capel has an opportunity because of the uniqueness of this year. He needs to take advantage of it or he will be gone.

He needs to start finishing and quickly.

He was fired because we went 0-18 and were not remotely competitive
Full stop

Just my opinion, but I'd rather have, for example, a senior Wilson-Frame than a freshman Jefferes right now. Ultimately, we need both, but we need to climb back to respectability very fast or else this problem is only going to perpetuate itself. We can't afford to not have a few very nice hits in the transfer portal this year; we need guys who can contribute heavily as soon as this coming season.

As he should be if he's unable to field a competitive roster.

We would have been better off keeping stallings.

That’s disgusting to write
Not true.

Again we are stuck with Capel for 2 more seasons at least because Heather decided inexplicably to extend him after last season. Which makes it all the more depressing because he isn't a strong coach and has shown he isn't a good recruiter either. We're stuck with this guy.

If he would have kept Carr and Stewart.

Bryce Golden and the other guard Aaron Thompson. That’s better than what we got
Hmmm, maybe it is true?

And we would never have recruited "The Albatross Duo," Trey and X!

I stand corrected...

There was no way we were keeping Thompson after Stallings ran off Manigault.

And Capel was hired because he was viewed as a recruiter. If he cant recruit here, he's done.

Capel is 2 bad seasons away from being fired OR 1 disastrous season. If he goes 2-18 and his 2022 class sucks balls, I think you cut him loose next March.

BTW, Im glad I took you off ignore. Your Qanon stuff on the LR board was too much but your posts are pretty good here.

Correct.

Carr, Stewart, JWF, Golden, and Luther win 3 or more ACC games in a Stallings Year 3. Then the next 2 seasons would have been about like Capel's last 2.

Thanks.

I never had anyone on ignore until now. I felt compelled to put three people on ignore, but basically they are the same person. They certainly act in unison. So, I feel I only have one on ignore.

I don't want to speak too soon because I think Capel can still pull this off, but I don't think that's a crazy statement by any means.

People will always point to 0-18 and rightfully so, but this roster as it currently looks is staring right down the barrel at 3 or less conference wins. It can and will change, but people are forgetting the roster could still look worse in a month than it does now.

Yes.

Stallings was history the minute Barnes left for Corvallis.

Maybe. But I honestly believe that if Stallings had an unreal class signed that November, many of us would be like, "man, Stallings sucks, 0-18 sucks, but my God, lets get these 4 and 5 stars on campus and give him another year."

he was close two years in a row to bringing in a top end class. top 2-3 for a pile of 4 and 5 star guys... people who said he didn't try are morons.

Lol
If you think stallings was close to pulling in a monster recruiting class -
I’ll ask a simple question - with now 3 years unencumbered by recruiting regulators-
Why isn’t he a coaching commodity ala bob Huggins when he guaranteed 3 top recruits with his hire ?

hint
Same reason be brought in absolutely 0 recruits when he was hired

he viewed Pitt as his golden parachute only

And you would have been wrong
He was poison and the cancer needed removed

OK, lets say he had the #1 class signed? 5 stars all over the place? My point is that there is a threshold where an unbelievable recruiting class will save ANY coach, ANY coach even Stallings. That was never going to happen I know but just pointing out he was fired for a combination of:

a) 0-18
b) poor first full recruiting class
c) below average second full recruiting class

He was sucking on the court and there was no hope for the future. This is very similar to Capel. Sucking on the court and recruiting showing there's no hope for the future.

It's not a matter of think, it's fact. He was top 2-3 on multiple high end kids.

I will agree with you here. I think Stallings did have good intentions coming in but was completely turned off by the fanbase and ticket sales and just phoned it in and viewed it as semi-retirement. Sure, he had to recruit but clearly wasnt trying as hard.....and I dont blame him. Stallings was a genius in a way.

0 recruits brought in after being hired
No effort and no good intentions
