-Murray, Murray, Murray, aka Ken Dryden, Murray, Murray,Murray. Now for the post game show, can't wait for the haters to start about Penguin "luck". City of Champs rises. Way to go Pens

Thought Murray was the series MVP, no matter though the Cup is home where it belongs!

Penguins had a great team, closed up all their holes, went for the Cup, congratulations to all the players and the organization for building a winner

Penguins brass knows what it takes, Pirates know how to save a buck, ones a winner, other is not, never will be

Why is it that no one can ever enjoy a moment in Pittsburgh without being negative????? Now is the time to celebrate the cup, not point out the flaws that the other teams in town have.

Facts are facts. I grew up wanting to play for the Pirates, my favorite sport at one time. Nuttings ruined that for me, not for losing , but not for trying

Excellent point. I don't know whether it's been discussed on here, but on the subject of negativity, the worst that I heard was Albie Oxenriter's (sp?) post-game interviews on WPXI. He asked Mario something about his plans to sell the team, and he asked Flower something about how did he feel not playing, and what were Flower's plans for the future. Just putrid interviews - considering that they'd just won their sport's biggest trophy.

You are not one of the fans who just enjoy. You have to always be looking for "haters". I am not surprised the one poster who liked your thread. Trust me, I am a bigger Penguin fan than you ever could be. I could care less about what people think. AND I can tell you this unequivocally, no one is calling the Pens , "lucky". That is more paranoid delusion by you. They are calling them good and champions.

Enjoy the win. Bask in it. Stop looking to always shove it others faces. Unless it is Flyer fans then I say, "go for it".

Maestro - cue up the violins. This is a real tearjerker. :)

I felt the same way. And then him trying to run along side Crosby when he was skating the cup around the boards for all the fans and Crosby pretty much trying to get away, he looked like an idiot.

Congratulations Penguins, Championship shirt and hat already ordered for father's day.

Chance to repeat, sign a few good players before the season, sure they will, sign the free agents you want to keep, sure they will, and get most you can for Fleury, and use his salary savings to win, sure they will, REPEAT if possible :)

Yep. Usually Albie's a pretty reliable guy who brings his A-game when he's on camera. But last night, I don't know what he was thinking.

There won't be many changes at all to this team. Only to UFA's and not much cap room. Guys like Wilson, Sundqvist, Sprong knocking at the door for PT next year. Only move I can see them doing is getting a defenseman in case Pouliot doesn't improve much in the offseason.

This was a great TEAM win. Conn Smythe could have went to a number of people, no 1 individual carried this team. I agree with Mulburry, this was not a goalie driven team, they probably win the cup if Fleury never gets injured also. This was a masterful job by Rutherford, Sullivan and the "core" Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Kessel, Fleury. Whether it was what they did on the ice, or what they did off the ice (Malking guaranteeing wins and calling the team out, Fleury accepting his role and supporting Murray, Crosby being a true leader) this was awesome!

And Martin Jones was unbelievable again. Great year for that kid. He had to play 89 games this year in an extremely tough Western Conference.

You're both wrong. He was really good in the finals. Really good. Just not the MVP.

Um No. Martin Jones was really good. Murray was fighting the puck all series. Seriously, what finals did some of Yinz watch. Everyone was talking about Murray struggling yet some of you think he was really good?

I also thought Alby looked like an idiot. Why the h### do you ask Mario about selling the team?
It was also funny when he was chasing Sid

I thought he played good, but wasn't going to steal any games or win you the cup. Jones was playing that way.

The Pens definitely made things much easier too by not letting any pucks go through.

I feel like game 3 and game 5 were lost because he allowed some bad goals. The Pens were the better teams in both of those games and he allowed really soft goals that let San Jose creep back into the series. National and Local media felt the same. He made some nice saves in the series but he was much better early on in the playoffs. I believe he was physically and mentally wore down since he had never played at that level. He will only get better.

Why am I not surprised you can't look at anything objectively. Jones outplayed Murray by a wide margin in the finals. The Pens outplayed San Jose badly for most of the series. The difference in the play of the goaltenders kept it close. I love the Pens and think Murray has a bright future but he was very shaky in the end. He was better than Jones for the first 2-3 rounds.

-Local and National Media are complete dumbasses as they constantly picked against the Penguins and picked them to lose. The same dumbass media that also once thought Larry Fitzgerald shouldnt win the Heisman. The same hater in Barry Melrose that wanted the Pens to lose every game. My favorite is Keith Jones, a once Washington Captial and Flyer, watching him cringe when the Pens broke Washington's Back with Bonino's game winning goal in game 6 as Hotlby and Ovie lay on the ground watching the Pens celebrate and the horn sound. I think Ill watch it again. BONINO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's one of those boxscore morons that don't know what they're watching. Every fanbase has them.

Did your eyes not see the goals Murray allowed in games 3 and 5 to let the sharks back in the series? He struggled towards the end of the playoffs. He was great versus the caps and the rangers. The kid will be a great one

-Murray had a 92% save percentage in the Sharks series alone. He gave up 11 goals total in 6 games. San Jose scored 16 goals against L.A in 5 games. San Jose scored 25 goals against Nashville in 7 games. San Jose scored 22 goals against St. Louis in 6 games.

-Must be nice to get their goal scoring cut in half. No credit to the defense, no credit to Murray. Some of you are still clowns.

-It feels great though. Maybe the Flyers will win one for you dionlewis fan. That makes 4 in 25 years, best in the NHL.

Two thoughts I thought Alby was terrible and the timing of his questions were not appropriate asking Fluery what does your future hold was just stupid. Concerning Murray he wasn't great this series but he really played well in the previous series.

I haven't missed a Penguins game in about 20 years. You are clearly delusional and you back it up here daily. Murray struggled this series. No one is saying he was not great early in the playoffs or that he will not be great in the future, but they have eyes and see that San Jose struggled to generate anything offensively the entire series because of Pittsburgh puck possession and movement. Murray let them back in the series by allowing a few softies. The team took the game out of his hands in the 3rd period last night allowing 2 shots to a desperate team.

-Before you ever post again, why dont you count the amount of breakaways Matt Murray stopped and odd man rush attempts he stopped in the series.

-And I consider Jones more lucky than actually good. In the last 4 games the Penguins hit the post 15 times. Sometimes its a game of inches, and I consider the Sharks lucky to not have gotten completely routed and blown off the ice in a few of those games. If this series was played all over again starting right now, I think it would have been won more convincingly than what it was. You credit Jones for all this superman heroics. I credit his friend the goalpost for saving his ass from getting blown out.

dion

we won the cup and murray was an important piece of the puzzle. he rebounded after every loss in the playoffs and came back with a win.

Where did I say he wasn't an important piece of the puzzle? I simply said he wasn't good in the final series which has been backed up by basically every unbiased journalist and analyst that covered the series.

-So a 92.3% save percentage in the Stanley Cup Finals isnt good? What would you have liked his save percentage to be, 98%?

-Talking sports with you is like talking to a wall.

here is the thing.......he was good enough to win a cup. at age 22. did he let in some soft goals? yep, he did. since 2009 has MAF let in some soft goals in the playoffs? yep, he did as well.

when we switched to MAF for one game, I was one of the few on this board who said it was a mistake(i said this before the game started).

ya Because I was the only one who thought Murray struggled in the final games of the series....I am not saying the kid isn't good. I just do not think he was deserving of the Conn Smythe like some have suggested.
