Robinson isn’t great, but low risk move to get a big body, veteran WR. He can play outside but has played slot and that seems to be what they’ve been looking for, a big slot type. Good blocker for a WR too.

Maybe Canada can use him in condensed bunch formations to take out some LBers to spring Najee. 😉

How do they heep fleecing these teams. The Rams essentially gifted him to the Steelers.

Because even after this trade the Rams are still only $10 million under the cap, and that's only counting their top 51 salaries. By the time they get to the regular season they are going to have to account for a lot more than 51 players, so they needed money on the cap.

Essentially the Rams gave up Robinson to get $5 million in salary cap relief. They probably couldn't find anyone else to give them more.

Allen Robinson
Although it's a Penn Stater , he is very low risk.
Basically 1 year 5 million , Steelers swap 17 spots in the 7th round.

Steelers can now focus on OL, DL, CB , S, and LB in draft.
Maybe get Kancey at 32 if availiable ??????

They should and will draft another WR.

I think they have been trying to plug up all holes with low risk stop gap additions ahead of the draft, so they can go BPA as it unfolds. Only spot they haven’t added is OT, so obviously they think someone will be there when they pick. WR is still absolutely in play at some point though.

I’d be happy to take a certain well paid DT off their hands for another $5 million on cap relief. 🤣

Oh, I get the reasons. Just seems like a better deal for the Steelers. They were lucky to the take advantage of the Rams situation.

Robinson adds some veteran leadership to the WR depth chart and offense in general. If healthy, he should be an okay WR3. The Steelers should still be spending 2-3 of the their Day 1 & 2 picks on offense, but they'll probably focus on the defense and hope the offense gets better.

Hoping for Kancey now, never wanted Addison anyways @ 32.
Have to go LT first .
Seems like it’s going to be two of OT/DT/CB between 17 and 32. I wonder if they could keep the 32nd pick if they trade up to 9 (as speculated)? Jalen Carter and someone like Jawand (sp.) Jones from Ohio State would be a haul on paper. If not, I like LT and then Kancey if he’s available. We’re going to get a lot better either way.

Hey I'm all for it.
Funny thing is that before this alot of people put WR about 4th or 5th priority.
I'm all for getting playmakers for Pickett, and letting him do his thing.

For the same reason, I would even take Michael Mayer at 17th and definitely at 32 if he was there somehow.

Wouldn't be totally against that , just think they finally need to address the OL and keep 8 upright and in the game. The less we see of Trubisky the better.

I don't think Carter will be there at 9, so the Steelers don't need to worry about trading up. I could see them moving up to pick before the Jets if they really want one if the top OL.

Otherwise, the should take the best OL/DB available at #17 and then the best OL/CB available at #32. It's possible that hat Gonzalez will be available. I think he will be a projected top 10 player who slides down.

Also, the Bears need DL and OT help. Why would they allow the Steelers to move up and get either Carter or the top LT on the board?

Hence why the Steelers basically gave up nothing .
Better to have him than not to help Pickett.
Dude had some good seasons . It can happen again.

seen him going to the Steelers in countless mocks, but Im sure you know more.
Well those countless mock drafts are all done by people who havent done any research whatsoever. He does not fit as a nose in a 3-4 and especially the steelers style of 34. You and the countless idiots are wrong

a team is paying him 10M to NOT play for them. that is quite an endorsement. I am still holding out hope that CA3 can run a jet sweep or two and maybe we can identify a WR later in the draft..

The Steelers should hire the Formula. This cat has upper management written all over him.

I remember a few years ago some of the posters here were discussing Pitt and the NFL Hall of Fame. We mentioned a list of players when some nitter was trolling and telling us that PSU had a lot of future Pro Football Hall of Famers as well. The list was absurd. One of the players he listed was Allen Robinson.

LOL…

1. Are the Steelers abandoning the 3-4?

2. Are the Steelers going to employ a 6' 280lb NT to 2 gap for 17 games/year?

They weren't interested in Donald and unless they're scrapping the 3-4, they aren't drafting Clancy. Has zero to do with his talent.

You don't think Aaron Donald could have been successful as a 3/4 DE? In retrospect, I believe he could've been outstanding there. So maybe Kancey could too. Or Sam Clancy. Whoever you were referring to. :)

That doesn't mean that they will draft Kancey. It may be considered a little too outside the box for the Steelers. But I wouldn't dismiss him because of his height weight. Aaron Donald proved that it is not the size of the dog in the fight, it is the size of the fight in the dog.

Considering that the Rams have mostly run a 3-4 for the past 6 years or so and Donald has played both end and tackle in their 3-4, I am sure that he has a place in a 3-4 if they want to fit him in it. The same for Kancey.

steelers are in their base 3-4 under 40% of the time in '22 and '21.

I dont think Kancey fits our needs either but if we are going to draft a DL, we'll move up and try to get that dude who kills white chicks, the georgia guy..

i think we stay pat and go Tackle, MLB

Well, if Allen Robinson makes it here, he’ll be assured a bunch of Pgh media votes for the HOF once his career ends, likely next December.

I don't think he would be near the player he is today if he were asked to 2 gap vs the run.

Big difference between a 1 gap 3-4 scheme and a 2 gap.
