Sterling Smith

A SG who can knock down 3's. I like it.

-Smith is shooting 62% from 3 for the year. He has 27 rebounds his last 4 games.

-Its time to bump him up to 32-35 minutes per game in meaningful games. He took 1 shot against Purdue. That's unacceptable and not understanding our own teams talent well enough. This kid can play.

Does Smith remind any of you older Pitt fans of Jason Matthews? Not as good a shot as Jason but pretty close. It's been awhile since we've had a two guard that's a constant three point threat.

Nobody on the team is going to play 32-35 minutes until at least the Davidson game, and maybe not then. Bench won't be shortened until conference season.

He is a good shooter, very good rebounder and maybe our best defender. If he and Maia play as they did tonight, this is a very nice team.

Im fully aware of that. But Smith was only getting 19 minutes a game coming into today. And he only played 20 against Purdue.
How many shots did Smith take during the Purdue game? Smith will find more time if he becomes more assertive. He looks great when he shoots, but if he is tentative ala the Purdue game, he will lose minutes to other players. Pitt should run more sets for Smith...he could be this year's second coming of Gibbs..

Smith had an awesome game-hope it continues. Production and rebounds from the 2 guard??? Wow, pinch me, I must be dreaming, lol.
