Maybe the odds makers actually know what they are talking about. I don't think any Panther fan saw last night coming, I know I didn't:

1. I mean this was a total domination in all aspects of the game. Even Sauls missed so you know something is off.

2. First thing, this was our worst tackling game that I can remember. We usually are a good tackling team but yesterday poor tackling extended multiple drives for the Mustangs and created several splash plays for them. It started early and was a theme throughout the game.

3. We knew the SMU defensive front was good, and they proved it by dismantling our offensive line. Getting a push with just 4 down lineman is always a problem for the offense and that's exactly what they did yesterday. It allowed the Mustangs to play their zones and keep everything underneath.

4. Holstein is a shell of himself from earlier this season. He seemed extremely antsy in the pocket sometimes breaking the pocket too early and was wildly inaccurate on basic swing passes. To me he looked confused and indecisive which he hasn't been. He also made curious decisions under duress, like once throwing a lateral trying to escape. Not sure if it was the looks that SMU was giving or Eli just doesn't seem comfortable looking at the field. Either way he doesn't look great. In fairness, the little wheel route to Reid late should have been a TD not an int.

5. Manny Diaz against this team, rushed 4 and dropped 7 and forced Jennings to make throws into tight windows and it worked. We did not follow that strategy choosing to go after Jennings who statistically was good against the blitz because he doesn't have to scan the field he can just let it rip against man coverage. It killed us.

6. It's a shame the team's worst effort of the season occurred when pretty much everything went right for them around the country. Iowa State, Kansas State, Clemson, Texas A&M all lost. Penn State loss doesn't exactly help us but sure is a bonus on a lackluster day for us.

7. At the end of the day, this team is 7-1. Maybe they are overrated maybe they are good but not elite maybe they had a bad night. They need to come back against UVA and make the Clemson game matter.

8. Some fans will be calling for Yarnell and he looked decisive, however, it was during garbage time against second and third teamers so let's hold off a little. Though I will say Holstein should be on a shorter leach.

That's all I got, rough one.
