I just hope this isn't a situation where Rudolph does "pretty well," so we commit to him. That's how you end up with an Andy Dalton. Unless your team around him is fantastic, and ours isn't, you need a QB who is elite.

I also don't agree with cleaning house in football, because there are just so many positions to address, but it's time to get a few contracts off the books where the players are aging and underperforming.

Great times for some Pittsburghers.

The QB they love to hate is done for the year and a ranked team, and not a cupcake, is coming into Heinz Field this weekend.

I agree, but who do you have in mind?

Steelers screwed themselves by trading Dobbs. Now they will have to sign one and maybe two complete scubs to back up Rudolph

On the bright side Pitt might actually end up with more football victories than the Steelers

Actually not the worst thing in the world for the Steelers, barring an injury they will get to see Rudolph for 14 more games and should be able to make an educated decision on whether he can be the guy or not.

If so they are in an enviable position in the league these days, the ability to have a good starting QB playing for small money on his first contract while the rest of the cap space can be used to build up the rest of the roster.

If not, then they know they have to draft another qb immediately, and the record would probably be bad enough to get a relatively high draft pick. I think most people realize this Steeler team wasn’t really going anywhere this season. Probably a borderline playoff team and looking like they were on the downswing.

After 6 quarters this season with Roethlisberger I think we were starting to see the cumulative effects of not having both Brown and Bell in the lineup. It just didn’t look like the same offense, and I don’t think it was going to get all that much better. Going to really be a struggle now, hopefully Rudolph can show something.

Eh...while I am sure they would rather have Dobbs backing up Rudolph now.

But, If they get to needing to use Dobbs, do you really think they have a chance to win anyway?

Dobbs is meaningless in the grand scheme of things when it comes to whether they win or lose.

At this point, probably Heyward, Pouncey, Foster, and Haden. I'm not suggesting those guys can't play; I'm just saying they probably won't be here by the time we're competitive again anyway. Although I guess it could be tough finding trade partners given how much money they're all making.

You say that now we may soon see who ends up out there if Rudolph gets injured. Pittsburgh may become a laughingstock

Tom Savage (I think) is still on the Lions practice squad. Brock Osweiler is unsigned.

Both of those guys stink, but I’d think either would be more serviceable than Dobbs.

Why exactly? I can’t think of one reason.

Savage probably has CTE by now, with the punishment he has taken. Osweiler has proven multiple times what he is

Who cares at that point. They would be laughingstock with Dobbs too. You really think Dobbs vs a free agent like say Landry Jones is the difference between making the playoffs and not?

They would stink with Dobbs also so who cares. Might as well stink a little worse and get a better pick in draft.

I am talking about looking like the Miami Dolphins out there
