Tcu fall in 2ot

What a great game. Had to root for Texas after the kid being diagnosed with leukemia today.

TCU is a good squad, has lost 3 conference games by like 7 points combined. That's a tough league.

They probably could go like 8-10 and still make the dance. Figure to be 1-4 after a game @ Oklahoma. Brutal league schedule so far.

Dixon is like the Andy Reid of the NFL. Guy can turn around a program, give it credibility and respectability and win lots of games. Just can't get to that next level of success. Loses lots of games as the higher seed that his team should have won.

It was an interesting decision to foul the big on purpose, playing the odds.
Kid actually made one.

The give and go full court play was nicely designed. Shame fisher missed- he had a rough game

I don't think it was on purpose. I watched it on replay, Jamie wasn't saying foul, was an assistant coach?

Maybe the kid just had in his brain that is a 39% FT shooter. I dunno.

I don't think it was on purpose either. I think the guy had a brain crap and thought they were losing by a point. Either that or a Naz Robinson type moment.

It was such a weird play, I was surprised the announcers didnt really talk about it more. He didnt straight hack him, but he just sort of leaned on him until they had no choice.

He kept reaching in and poking at the ball too. It looked like the kind of thing you do when you want them to call a foul on you. But why? 85 feet from the basket with 5.6 seconds left and the guy with the ball is in no way a ball handler. Play him straight up and make him have to make a play.

Dixon players seem to have a propensity to make stupid fouls with the game on the lIne. Recall off top of my head the Cuse game ( Pitt fouls inbounds with second left) and Naz vs Butler and Dixon picking up dribble at half court line vs Nova. Does Dixon teach situational basketball? I always thought a weakness of Dixon coaching is that his players did not do smart things at critical times. That is on Dixon

Yea. 8-10 should do it based on RPI manipulation. TCU is a good team, but they haven't beaten a sure-fire NCAAT team yet.

Big 12, from top to bottom is the best conference and has been for a few years now. There maybe conferences that have more top teams, but there are so few layups in that conference. Every night is a challenge. Even Iowa State who maybe really down is only a few years removed from being a top 10 team.

That's way better than having a Coach who may not win a single conference game and not even sniff the NIT.

Jamie is looking more and more like the guy who was struck by lightning 66 times in the Great Outdoors.

Lousy performance by SMU blowing that game at home against a Temple last night. One I did not see coming.

I think I wrote that before really looking at SMU. I still feel like Nevada will get in. It's a typical Dixon OOC resume though, good enough teams to not hurt the profile but not games TCU was ever really in danger of losing.

I really like Nevada, and if they get in I think they can win a game, maybe two.

The MWC is down again this year though, could easily be a one bid league. Big advantage as usual for UNLV playing on their home court, and they have as much or more talent than anyone in the league. Big advantage in coaching for Nevada, Musselman is really good, and Marvin Menzies quite frankly isn’t.

I figure SMU and Nevada seem likely to make it. Their OOC wasn’t that bad

It also wasnt good. It was manipulated. SMU and Nevada may be 10-12 seeds. 1 was a home win, the other in LA. It wasnt a bad schedule but it also wasnt good.

They do have to go to Vandy

I also have to say, from someone who has watched a little bit of TCU, that's a pretty good team. Deep, also a fun team to watch play. If they go like 8-10 in the Big 12 and land like a 10-11 seed, that's a tough out for a 2-3 seed in the second round potentially. Like I said, a couple bounces and they could be 4-0 in the Big 12.

They could also get buried if they don't start winning soon. You never know.

Yes they are. They have 2 high-level players in the PG and C, 2 crucial positions. Jamie inherited one and got another through a package deal. And the rest of the team has enough quality. They could easily make a Sweet 16 but they are probably 1 and done

I guarantee you that if TCU is a 10-11 seed, they will win at least 2 games in the NCAAT, w/ JD outperforming his seed line and then this board will officially need to be shutdown!
