After all the talk of Narduzzi never changing his D, he used a 3 corner setup for first time this past week. Does the team now try to force passes to the TE as a result of the first decommit? I would hope it wouldn't be a factor, but some how I'm not sure. It will be interesting to see how reactive this staff is.

We got burned all day by UCF matching RBs on LBs. Against that offense you are insane if you aren't in a base nickel. We didn't do that. HCPN plays an extra DB in 3rd and longs when he can sub it in. The problem is we don't force opponents into that very often and in those situations a dime is even more appropriate.

I would like to know if the Pitt D ever send 6 or 7 players to pressure the qb I think it's hard to pressure the qb sending just 3 or 4. No stunting lbs, no pressure at all. Receivers are bound to get open since the Qbs have time to wait

I thought we did play the majority of our snaps in the nickel against UCF but honestly I was barely paying attention to a lot of the game. But even if you're in a dime against four receiver sets, that still leaves the possibility of a linebacker on a running back leaking out, which is why you need to recruit better linebackers (or linebacker/safety hybrids, who are very challenging to recruit because everyone wants them now.) Narduzzi has done pretty bad recruiting linebackers, the position he played and coached most of his career.

Uhh... they were in nickel majority of snaps but they still get out-schemed because the LB’s can’t take advantage of the 5yd impediment rule and prevent the backs from releasing clean. Then you have Briggs unable to defend a TE and you get 40+ scored on you.

It was more than usual, but save a 3rd/4th and 3 or less or goal line, there was no time they should have been in anything other than nickel or dime. Guess how many 3rd and shorts there were...5. There were 3 3rd/4th downs for 3 or less yards and then 2 3rd and goals from the 4.

OK just peaked, we were in the nickel package against UCF on 1st and 10.
What is scarier about that -- the fact they still passed for 330 yards or the fact we also gave up 240 rush yards, and more points than South Carolina State did? It's just a bad defense no matter the personnel.

Sear looks shaky and gragg looks like he doesn’t even know how to play football. I think gragg has more potential but I wouldn’t bet on him ever becoming useful. Sear I think could turn into a serviceable tight end, I wouldn’t mind seeing him get more looks. Maybe a few catches gets his confidence up and he performs. Had Pickett thrown the ball earlier on that INT against Georgia tech he likely has a TD reception and maybe that would’ve caught the coaches’ eyes.

The OC has no faith in the qb getting the ball to receivers, and less faith in the TE's catching the ball. I hardly ever see one of PITT's receivers wide open.

I think it is a crap reason to decommit considering how much me usually pass to the TE. We have no TE's this year, and most throws to them are dropped. So, this kid wants us to throw to players that arent getting open or holding onto catches? How about watch tape? Or think "I'll get balls cause Im good".

I do think some posting up 5-7 yarders to the TEs in the slot on quick hitters is much preferable to the 387 roll outs we call a game.

Lets be honest. Sear was a G5 recruit and may not even be a good G5 recruit. He plays because we have nobody else
