WE WON'T WIN ANOTHER GAME THE REST OF THE YEAR. SEASON OVER

TOO LITTLE TOO LATE FROM ROBINSON. CAN'T BOX OUT, DIXON RUINS THE MOMENTUM FROM THE 1ST HALF LEAD BY PUTTING IN A LINEUP THAT WASN'T WORKING WHICH MIAMI EXPLOITED.

PATHETIC, ALL ON DIXON.

I know, I get it. But they showed heart all night. Two bone head plays by Artis to end each half.

Second half gaffe is one thing... first half gaffe is something else completely. Jacking up a 3 w/ ~ 10 secs and no shot clock?? A high school player doesn't do that. That is COACHING. End of game/half scenario's should be engrained in player's heads - except for Dixon players .

Larranaga's players too apparently, because they actually could have played for the last shot and took a quick one instead, which gave us the chance for the last shot and took one too quick instead.

It might just be coaching. What we forget is when Howland was here he had Dixon and Slice on his staff, advising and running practices. Dixon was "legendary" in how he ran practices. Who are Jamie's goto guys? Brandon Knight and Bill Barton -- not exactly in the same league in my opinion.

Punk.

I AM SUPER PISSED. WATCHING MIAMI PLAY TIP ITS BY THE RIM FOR 4 SECONDS, PATHETIC.
How in the hell do you not go completely on tilt every time you lose a hand?

How does someone with so little control over their emotions succeed at poker?

It's a tough loss, but they actually did play with heart tonight. They fought back from 7 down twice and 6 down another time. Young and Artis seem to be our issue. Luther and Jones played really well.

I guess you didn't expect a response. The miami player had a WIDE OPEN layup he missed - not an off-balance lunging 3 pointer. Big difference.

You're right, I didn't expect one. I also didn't think that if I got one it would include making up something that didn't happen to try to make a point. Newton didn't miss a wide open layup. He missed a runner from just inside the foul line with Damon Wilson on his hip. He had to split the two Pitt guards to get that. He was never wide open on the play at all. With 18 seconds left in the half and the shot clock off it was a dumb shot.

You trying to say it was a less make-able shot than Artis launching a contested 3? He merely evaded Wilson and had clear access to the hoop. He didn't have to pick up his dribble, but he did. And I hope you are not trying to say what Artis did was the right thing to do in that situation. But keep trying to justify it however you like. And continue on w/ justifying his lack of box-out at the end of the game.

I never said that Artis did the right thing. He clearly did the wrong thing. But it is completely and utterly illogical to say that Artis did the wrong thing and Newton didn't. Neither was an optimal shot, and neither should have been taken when it was. If Artis taking an ill advised, too soon shot is a sign of poor coaching the Newton doing the same exact thing should be a sign of poor coaching as well.

As far as the box out at the end, as you said in another thread that's a fundamental of the game. Artis has probably had that drilled into his head more than 1,000 times since he was in about 6th grade. The notion that it's the current coaches fault that he failed to execute one of the fundamentals of the game that he has been coached to do for more than a decade is laughable. I just can't figure out why you are so willing to excuse this instance of poor fundamental play on one players behalf when you never seem to accept similar excuses in other situations?

I'm ALL IN!!

It's very simple.

As an avid poker player myself (I'm typing this from a table at Hollywood Park Casino in L.A. at this moment), you can't do well at this game if you can't keep control of your emotions. There will be bad beats, impossible 1-outers that will make you want to punch a wall.... there will be rushes where you hit every flop for a half hour....

Someone like you who seemingly blows his top at the slightest thing during Pitt games... JRob misses a 3 pointer two minutes in and you go nuts, Artis turns it over 10 minutes in and you go bonkers, et,.... is the antithesis of the behavior of a successful poker player.

I have never seen a hot head succeed long term at this game, and I've been playing at casinos all over the country for 15 years.

And you sir, are a hothead.

I'm 5 minutes from Hollywood Park right now. How strange.

Then why do you continue to watch? You are such an ass

You do know you can love Pitt basketball and be pissed off at the results and team play past 4 years , right ? You don't have to accept the mess and still be a fan. Guys like you, why we had Pederson and Nerdy around far too long

Stop over and say hi.

I'm at a 4-8 half kill table at the moment. Table 43.
Sorry I never even saw this message until just now. I am staying at a hotel in Marina Del Rey. Do you ever play no limit? Did you win? How long are you in LA for?

I take no pleasure in posting this.

Yes, by this team's standards, it played with "heart" yesterday.

That is relative to its particular level of heart, which is low enough that on a good night for playing with heart it still was not able to pull out a win against a Miami team that did not play a particularly good game.

Yeah, Miami is ranked, but in order to be a good team you have to, you know, beat good teams (generally speaking ranked teams). Given that they have not been able to beat any ranked teams, even under better circumstances of being at home, a team has to find a way to pull out some road wins against good teams.

This was they type of game the vintage Howland/JD teams win easily, frankly. Miami didn't shoot particularly well, didn't rebound particularly, well, and didn't play particularly tough defense except for some portions of the second half when they turned it up a bit.

Last night was very likely the death knell for their NCAA hopes - this team is a LOT closer to a crash and burn like last year than making the NCAAs.

Yes I play no-limit mostly back home.... but I've found the 4-8 kill games out here have VERY loose players and it is like taking candy from a baby. The typical 4-8 kill players at Hollywood Park are:

- Loose-aggressive young (usually asian or black) players who raise and re-raise constantly in an effort to intimidate and build pots. When they hit, you'll lose a bunch - but it usually temporary because you'll get it all back on the hands you have the courage to hang in there when you catch a piece of the flop (because they usually won't).

- Loose-passive old women who literally pay to see the flop every. single. hand. They will call pre-flop raises to see the flop with literally any two cards.

- Tight-passive old men who are playing with the SS checks. They literally never, ever, ever bluff and if they are in a hand past the flop, they have good cards and caught a nice piece of the flop.

For most of the past three days, I was the one of the few native-English speakers at the table. The asian community out here loves their 4-8 kill.

My three days out here so far are +281, +322, and +27. So I'm up about $625.

I'm in LA for work the rest of the week. But no games for me tonight, Have to work late. I'll play again on Thursday and Friday.

Agree this ends it for Pitt....when they lose Sunday...makes it 7 losses and realing...NIT at best
You realize there is basically no chance they fall below the NIT? It's a toss up right now between NCAA and NIT but even if they keep spiraling downwards, their record would still be enough for at least at 90% chance at the NIT. Arizona State made it last year at 17-15. Alabama was in at 18-14. We were 19-14. Freakin' Bucknell was 19-14. If we win just one more game, we're pretty much in the NIT.
