Who was the last team to do this? I asked ChatGPT and the results were wildly incorrect.

So it actually isn’t rare. And we lost to two teams playing in ACC champ game. Another ranked preseason.

I recall WVU having an epic collapse when Holgy and Geno Smith were there. I think they were highly ranked.

It's not 7-0 to 7-5, but in 2021, Franklin had PSU off to a 5-0 start that vaulted them all the way up to playoff position at No. 4 in the rankings. They then proceeded to lose 5 of their last 7 games and finish unranked. It only took him 3 years to get back up to being a top 4 team (likely top 3 in this week's rankings).

If you lose five games in a row, something is off. I'm tired of these mental gymnastics. No team in the ACC is all that good; win some freaking games.

Wanna take it the other way? We beat an awful FCS team, the worst team in the FBS, a bad 5-7 team that required a miracle comeback, a bad 6-6 team that's about to fire its coach (also required a wild comeback), a bad 6-6 team that did fire its coach, a 6-6 team that had to travel 3,000 miles east, and Syracuse.

You predicted we would win ten games due to how bad this schedule was. Sorry, you're not going to convince anyone that winning seven was a success.

All Pitt had to do was play average football down the stretch to finish 9-3.

You're like a pig in shit right now. Hope your miserable existence improves and 2025 brings you a bit more happiness. Pitt needs way less fans of the yinzer variety.

Nah, Pitt needs all the fans it can get, buddy. Especially ones like me, who actually attend the games. You don't. So GTFOOH.

ChatGPT isnt good

Yeah, injuries completely decimated us.

Good year though, no doubt without the injuries we would be 10-2 now. Which is an insane year for a team with a freshman qb

I found the answer! The 2018 South Florida Bulls Won their first 7 and lost their final 6, becoming the first team to do so. Pitt is in rare company here.

Wanny was 6-1 in 2006 and lost his last 5 but against a much more difficult schedule

vs 19 Rutgers (Rice, Underwood, Teel)
@ USF
@ UConn
vs 8 WVU
vs 8 Louisville

People dont like to admit this, but the Big East that Wanny was in with the WVU Glory Days teams and Petrino and Rutgers was pretty good and even USF and UConn were ok. Then Cincy started a Glory Days run towards the end of his tenure.
