they hired collins the florida DC for their new coach. his name wasn't even leaked.

That university is aiming very high.
Don't be surprised if they're in the ACC soon. They are gunning for it.
What they're doing in the athletic department and out is very impressive.
North Broad is gentrifying very fast. Night and Day compared to what it was just 6-7 yrs ago.
That said, I have no idea who this new coach is.

There is no scenario in which Temple will ever be in the ACC. None.

No scenario is too strong, IMHO. However, I would agree that under the current construct, it is very unlikely for the foreseeable future.

Great to wake up to that news. The way all the names that were being thrown out there fizzled out, I was afraid Temple would have to settle for "scraps", if you catch my drift (which would have been really bad, given that they had turned him down twice previously).

So, does that mean that Moorehead and Terry Smith won't be going to Temple?

:)

ACC??...I seriously doubt that. However, given what the last three football coaches have accomplished (yup that even includes Golden) things are looking up on Broad St. They are
top of the heap in their conference and are seemingly getting better. They still recruit 2 star
and some 3 star players, but obviously they succeed (at their level) with these players.
If we were to play them, it would be a tough win for us. IMO, we'd beat them, but they are
clearly not the Temple of old. I usually go to at least one of their games yearly and because
of living in Philly area it's easy to follow them, (however PSU still reigns supreme here).
They also are an urban school, and in my view make Pitt look almost like the suburbs in comparison. No idea what this coach can do, but he better have contacts in eastern Pa and
Jersey since that's from where they draw. Obviously they lost a great coach in Rhule.

No one is going to admit them to the acc; they can aim as high as they want. They're not that good of an academic school to compensate for the fact they have virtually NO fan support. Aside from the games at home when they played ups and ND they are lucky to draw 15k.

Very true about "virtually NO fan support." They used to draw 2,000 - 4000 so getting to the 15,000 mark is a big improvement. As far as their academics I see them higher than you, but I do
agree that there are issues...locale, lack of tradition, nothing in common with ACC, etc. etc. With that in mind, I surely see them as good or probably better academically than ACC member, Louisville. Unfortunately Temple brings nothing else to the table. If the ACC were to expand, my choice would be UCONN....NCAA championships in BBall (girls and guys), decent academics, and football that's not great, but competitive enough. As far as the WVU admittance to the ACC, How about those academics? LOL. Temple IMO is far better academically. WVU?...It would be interesting to see if football, basketball, large fan base, etc would be enough to overrule poor academics and even poorer overall reputation and get the hoopies admitted. IMO...not.

They actually averaged about 30,000 a game This season. And probably traveled to the AAC championship similarly to our game at Navy last year. Look, they're not a powerhouse but they're a legit program now that's trending upwards.

What's Temple offer? I'll help you with that: nothing.

Much as I like Temple University, I have to agree in regards to what they bring as a football
team to the ACC. Rutgers.....the Big 10 wanted the NYC market (tv) and they got it. I don't see anywhere near those kind of $$ coming out of the Philly area for tv, or for that matter...anything else.

Sorry if I've been too critical of Temple but I scratch my head when anyone suggests they are a legitimate candidate for the acc. I don't expect the acc to expand if and until the Big 12 implodes. One thing I give Temple tremendous credit for is that notwithstanding a significant number of obstacles they remain highly committed to their athletics programs and have done a nice job recently of maximizing the value of resources at their disposal.

Temple is now paying 2M per year for their football coach for 5 years. College football is becoming Monopoly money.

Temple is on a better and more aggressive track than PITT at this time!
OC stadium!
They seem to have leadership who are involved and committed to moving the Temple football program forward!
Don't underestimate the Temple sports programs or we'll be looking up at them!
Temple moved quickly and didn't fumble the ball like we did with the Sean Miller basketball coach PR disaster. Oh yea PITT made a " splash" basketball coach hire Stallings according to Barnes who was hired by Gallagher???
One more bad AD hire will set PITT back a lot!

Temple has had back to back 10-win seasons and won the old Big East. We had one 10-win season in the Big East and needed a bowl win to do it. And two of the last three coaching hires (Golden and Rhule) have been good fits for them.
