Texas AD might be gone

Texas to pac16. Todd graham to texas.

You may be more correct than you think... Nothing pisses off the Texas alumni more than Texas A&M doing better than them. There will be some major moves being made in the next 6 months...A conference move will be made down the road...Count on it!

They had the wrong Steve. UT needs to hire Steve with an e, change their longhorn logo (preferably dino longhorn), modify their color scheme (Vegas orange anyone?), require all media to call the team the National University of the Republic of Texas, cut their fight song, move to the giant stadium in Arlington, fire Charlie Strong after a 9-3 season only to hire a QB coach as head coach and/or hire an NFL reject, and piss off major donors who have been long supporters of the program.

I hope they do hire him. Would be good entertainment. I foresee Wade Phillips as their next head coach.

Texas in the Pac would be a bad move. They would be better of in the SEC (first choice) and ACC (second best option).

Texas will never go to the Pac 12, not in a million years. That stuff a few years ago was them playing the Pac 12 to get a better deal from the Big 12.

The new AD doesn't mean a whole lot for their future in the B12 but it cant help.

If Texas ever leaves, it will be ACC or Big Ten for them. They aren't flying 2 time zones away to play in the west. The East Coast is where the money is.

I see neither of them in the Pac IMO. I think that ship has sailed. That said, I also don't see any imminent change either.

This is just all about an arrogant AD pissing off a ton of donors, and those donors actually push for change via putting up the money to make a move.

Texas once had the pick of the litter in terms of in state recruiting. Things have really changed with all of the changes in conference realignment. The days of the world needing Texas might be drawing to a close if they don't do something fast.

I think it's noteworthy just because of what Texas means to conference stability.

Woe, they chose ASU's over WVU Oliver Luck?

It is amazing Charlie strong came in taking over Four Consecutive Top 5 Recruiting classes and many 4 & 5 Star recruits and they look terrible? Mack Brown had the same problems?

The Boosters at Texas don't take cotton to losing big, and will not tolerate it over 2 to 3 years?

STEEEEVVVE!
"Since being named school president in June, Fenves has received multiple complaints about Patterson, including a lack of transparency in both handling football season ticket holders and financing a new tennis facility, as well as poor outreach to donors and failed communication with his own department employees."

:rolleyes:Sound familiar!

Texas just needs to win. They are going through a down period much like Michigan has. Those programs will rise again.

Yep, Michigan had Hoke on a short leash after dumping CoachRod, but turned to Alumnus Harbaugh after their Athletic Director was gone first??

They don't wait and if they did the President of Texas is gone, and that does not look like it is going to happen. Texas will find the right Athletic Director and then right Coach, if not the President will be gone?

This ain't Nordenberg-Pederson love fest and nest!

:rolleyes:And make them a Basketball School and then blame the students for not traveling there on free buses to Arlington?;)

:oops:Steve Phone is not ringing from any school or sports department, and he can watch his buyout investments from paybacks from his secret consultants?

:confused:Took Pitt 19 years to learn its mistakes and Nebraska 5 years, that won't happen at Texas?

ACC they won't play A&M anymore or join a Conference that has A&M in them? Pac-12 has been talked about before! B1G Delany is already making plans to headquarter the Big Ten in Austin?

The Dude at WVU just clean out his pants, and OU is getting nervous?

Texas Booster & Attorney Joe Jamail will have the last say, trust me!

LINK:
According to at least one important donor to Texas Longhorns athletics, some of the critcisms levelled at athletic director Steve Patterson are way overblown.

"Some of this stuff is just fiction," Dallas lawyer Steve Stodghill told the Austin American-Statesman. "There's more truth in a Jurassic Park movie than in some of the stuff I read on the Internet about Steve Patterson."

Indeed, the Statesman also offered the following:

Athletic department officials believe part of Patterson's perception problem stems from a June report by Horns Digest. The widely circulated story had a laundry list of allegations, which the Statesman found to have varying degrees of truth.

But the perception problems are real inside the university because new UT-Austin president Greg Fenves took Patterson to task last week -- a report indicated that Fenves wants Patterson to "change his personal style" following allegations of frosty relations with donors.

While two donors refused comment for the report, mega-booster Joe Jamail also weighed in, saying that he didn't cancel his football suite for the 2015 season in protest of Patterson's efforts as the head of Texas, Inc. and adding that he doesn't agree with all the anger directed at Patterson by fans.

So what is Patterson doing behind the scenes to ensure that money held in the deepest pockets of Longhorns boosters end up in the athletic department coffers? The Statesman reports that he's been holding fundraisers around the state and region in which he sells the future of Texas athletics by asking a few simple questions.

"What do you want this school to be?" he told the Statesman. "You want us to be the best? You want us to provide the best? You want our kids to have the opportunity to have tremendous changes in their life story, which changes the world? Or not? WIN AT FOOTBALL IS FOREMOST AND NOT ANYTHING ELSE MATTERS!!!

"If it's not, OK, then it's not. But I don't think it's not."

Simple, but most likely effective -- he is talking to people who have a great deal of pride in the university. Clearly a Patterson supporter, Stodghill also said that Patterson is a "perfect fit" for what the Horns need moving forward, even though the athletic director himself admitted that his emotional quotient isn't as strong as his predecessor, DeLoss Dodds.

As for Fenves, he apparently wants people to stop calling him complaining about Patterson.

With Stewart Mandel and Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports now on record predicting that Patterson won't be able to keep his job through next spring, those private fundraisers need to start creating a sea change that trickles down to fans and faculty to give Fenves' phone a break before the president starts thinking more seriously about a change.

I highly doubt that either end up in the Pac. I think they are in the Big XII for a while, but if a move ever took place, I think Texas would be BIG or ACC bound and OU would be BIG or SEC bound.

But there is going to be no movement in the near term.

Just my opinion.

Agree 100%. No movement in the near-term but I wouldnt't be surprised to see the ACC try to create a 20 team superconference by adding ND, Texas, Texas Lite (TT), OK, OK Lite and 1 more.

I heard on the radio that the Texas alumni found him arrogant and confrontational..... Wow.... Is this Steve Pederson in disguise????
;) Patterson Is Texas Toast They Don't Put Up With Arrogance Like Pitt Expected Our Fans To Accept Neither Did Nebraska After 5 Years!:p
