That's why I love college basketball...

Great game. Feel bad for ND. It was right there for the taking. That last offensive possession killed them.

It is not just this game but you just never see college teams play the 2 for 1 like you see daily in the NBA and I just don't understand it.

Not many college offenses have plays that can get a high percentage shot in 10 seconds unless they're already in the half court running a set play.

They're used to more time for the play to develop.

Yeah, they could run their end game play and force a shot in 3 to 5 seconds, but it's not usually high percentage. Most coaches prefer to take one good shot rather than two bad ones. The NBA teams all have two or three guys who can take a "bad" shot and have a pretty good chance of making it.

I was bitching about that. I hate to second guess but I yelled do not let Kentucky have a last possession tied without the shot clock. ND had plenty of time to at least get a shot off with at least 8-10 seconds left. If they don't score they still have last possession. Jamie constantly does the same thing of not trying for the 2-1. I think it is just bad coaching. You can practice this stuff all the time.

Strange to see UK execute so poorly for much of the game and still win. Badgers, Duke and Zags could all potentially knock them off.

Dribbling the length of the court at the end of the game was not a wise decision. Those old enough to remember Duke"s Christian Laettner's shot to beat Kentucky will concur.

Had I been in Mike Brey's situation in he last ~35 seconds i would have fouled one of Kentucky's weak FT shooters early and sent them to the line with plenty of time (20-30 secs) on the clock to get the opportunity to be able to get down court and go for the last shot off of a regular (vs desperation full court) offensive possession even if it meant being down 1-2 points from made FT's..

But, Brey coached it conventionally/conservatively with the score tied hoping KY wouldn't score on its last possession. IMO, that would have ordinarily been the right basketball coaching decision but with KY almost unstoppable feeding the low post and being a weak FT shooting team I think the circumstances favored going unconventional.

But that's why I am not being paid big $$ to coach college hoops, I imagine.

DC, I was saying the same thing. Foul the worst FT shooter early, even if he doesn't have the ball, because they were in the bonus.

Then that gives yourself a chance to win or tie with more time on the clock to set up a good play. When ND spread them out, it took away Kentucky's ability to clog up the lane. Plus, ND has multiple three point shooters.

You knew Kentucky was going to go to the basket and get fouled. Why have that done with 6 seconds left vs 20-25?
