The 3-2-1 Column: Moral victories, the right direction, recruiting and more

Toney was the 2nd best player on the court.
Until the last 6 minutes of the game when Duke decided to clamp down.

Toney had his best game ever and it was good to see. But the statement in Peak’s piece was about talent, not who scored the most points in one game. Which Duke starter would Toney get more minutes than, if both were playing for any coach or team in the country?

Toney has been playing at a high level and rising since about a month before his injury.

Right now he's been a consisted scorer and arguably the best defender in the ACC.

The better question imo - based on how he's playing right now - what Duke wing would you play over him?

I’d start with Cassius Stanley and go from there.

I think Tre Jones and about 5 players from Louisville and UVA each would have something to say about being the top defensive player in the ACC.

Toney is a promising young player who continues to get better. I get being bullish on his future. But he’s a single digit scorer on the 10th place team in the ACC. He just had his best game by far. Probably a little premature to be anointing him as being more talented than 4 Duke starters who will all play in the NBA and as a ttop player in the ACC.
