Hey guys. Thought you would like to know Brandin Knight made the Athletic’s top 40 under 40 this year.

They cite his playing career at Pitt and his assistant coaching (particularly recruiting) at RU.

it’s only a matter of time before he gets a decent HC gig. I think he will be a hot commodity going forward and wouldn’t be surprised to see him end up back at Pitt a few years down the road

He should get a HC job at lower level division 1 school to prove himself, and then move up in the ranks.

I was just talking about this very topic, about where you look to go if you are Knight, the other day and to me it's a tricky one because there are not a lot of great options out there unless he leaves the northeast. St Joe's is obviously far and away the best option but after that the pickings get a little bit slim.

I’ve thought for a few years now that he’d kill it at one of the MAAC, CAA, or AEC schools in the I-95 corridor. But he might have raised his profile enough that he can jump over the low majors and onto an A10. He’d be a great fit at St. Bonaventure if Schmidt makes the jump to a high major - Knight and Woodall on the same staff would be fun.

Yeah, I think that this recent run of success for Rutgers has probably raised his profile a little bit too high for a place like Manhattan or Saint Peter's where he would have likely been pretty successful. The Bonnies would be another pretty good shout because Schmidt looks to have a really good squad this year, a deep run in March and this is probably his last opportunity to make a vertical move before he becomes part of the furniture there.

I had thought a St. Peter’s, Wagner, Hofstra, Stony Brook, etc. would have been strong fits. Obviously a St. Bonaventure or St. Joe’s would be even better, though I can see St. Joe’s having a strong “we need to hire a Philly guy” undercurrent even if they end up needing to replace Lange in the next few years.

That's what got them into this Lange mess in the first place! 😄

Fair. Think Kevin Baggett is a natural fit once they put a little more distance from the Martelli situation.

Fordham is another fun one for Knight. That job could come open in the next year or so.

I do like Baggett a lot, he's gotta be bummed that Lange got that job over him in the first place last year. As for Fordham, woof. That place eats up and coming young coaches for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
