Son of a B. I was going to call that because he was sitting at the TV broadcast table with Jeff Hathhorn for UPJ. I thought maybe they were doing a practice broadcast but they werent.
I hope Hathhorn isnt going to he our ACCNE announcer. He's really boring.
Is Curtis Aiken off of the broadcast crew because his son is on the team ?

Groat turned 88 according to Wikipedia. He was born in 1930. I think it would be hard just for him to get to the game and the broadcast table let alone call the game. How is he going to travel for road games also. Dude is old.
Hatthorn is vanilla and monotone. Very poor broadcaster. Aiken usually calls those games with him on ACCNE but we shall see.
Listening to the pre-game and Groat is on so he will be doing the game tonight. Love Billy and Dick, but thank goodness we don’t need to rely on the radio anymore. Hard to follow what’s happening with those guys.
Don’t want to start a bill hilgrove thing but I had to listen to the third quarter of the Steelers game on radio Sunday and good lord he makes it hard to follow the action. Brutal

Exactly. For an experienced broadcaster, he's as bad as there is. The guy that does some of the soccer and baseball (Josh Rowntree?) is better.
I expect that the Steelers will soon ease him out the door. It won't be as easy as it was with Fleming, because they don't have Cope to fall back on. Pitt will keep him around a bit longer.
Aiken is doing radio with Groat and Hillgrove. They showed all three during the broadcast. I’m a Williamsport guy and saw Chevy when he played in high school, but my boy struggled.
Chevy was at a loss for words at one point and even dropped a boom-shaka-laka which made me laugh. Was happy to see him but I didn't think he did a great job.
I absolutely love Julius Page's commentary wheh he's on The Fan. I think he's real good. And he's pretty honest. Don't know why he never gets a look.
He wasn’t good, but Hathhorn is a statue. Not easy to work with an announcer lacking a pulse.
