I think we all deal with the shock of the loss differently. I’m using the word “shock” because that’s what I’m feeling right now as I lay in bed at my downtown Pittsburgh hotel. I committed last weekend to Pitt, this weekend with 14 family members to Pitt and months/years of off season reading on the Panther-lair and Twitter. So much invested, for little upside and consistent disappointment. My family must be sick of hearing me suggest that this is the year or that “I don’t care what Vegas says, we’re going to beat Penn State.”

Losing the way we lost was tough. Honestly, I think the loss is squarely on the two kickers.

1. Another missed kick (short FG).
2. The fumbled snap on the extra point.
3. Forcing Narduzzi to go for it on 4th and 3 instead of taking the points.
4. The fumbled snap on the punt.
5. The pathetic punts which lost the field position game.
6. The pathetic line drive punt that was returned for a TD.

Totally demoralizing for a defense that was playing well, getting stops and keeping us in the game.

The offense lacks creativity. Watson has showed me nothing since arriving in Pittsburgh (while Canada is absolutely killing it).

Kenny is a baller. He’s tough and throws a great ball. His line didn’t give him a pocket and his receivers didn’t get open. It was his third career start. His first start in a big game with expectations. He’s going to learn from this, grow from this and I’m still confident he’s going to be a stud QB.

Ollison was great last night. Fought hard.

Aston was a beast.

The offensive line opened a lot of big holes in the run game in the first half.

Wirginis has a huge game. Weaver is a stud. Patrick Jones made plays (and took penalties). Brightwell made some plays. Dane Jackson and Damari Mathis both made plays.

It’s not all doom and gloom. It’s depressing to lose like that. To have the Penn State contingent rub it in our faces, continue to talk down to us and laugh. It sucks.

With all of that said, and using this post as a way to get these feelings out, I do believe Narduzzi can be the answer. Stability is important. I still think we can win 8+ games this year. I still love Pitt.

Hail to Pitt!
