Nice numbers, but the defense is also responsible for two of those losses (NC State and BC).
They were both one point losses with huge replay calls that went against us and miss extra points. Definitely not the defense losing either
Ok fair enough, but let’s agree that the defense shares a significant responsibility in both. I mean NC State marched down the field with ease at the end of that game and the BC game was highlighted by getting torched by Flowers all night.
The offense outgained each of those opponents. The refs took both those games
Can’t open up when the O is so undisciplined. So many presnap penalties. Penalties during the play, and even after it. Every time the have an advantage, they take a penalty to push them back. That’s coaching. Lack of discipline.
I'll give you NC St. They had a great game plan that took Pitt's strength (DLine) out of the game. The linebackers and DBacks are not that great and they lost the NC State game. Boston College was on the offense. This Miami game was on both. DBacks missing assignments allowing extremely open WRs and a offense that can't run or drops passes are not a great recipe for winning.
That isn’t gonna happen. This thing is what it is. Need substantially better players across the board on O, and a lot of them.

Can't keep blaming the ref's for losses. When you take so many penalties at crucial times in a game you will get calls against you that can go either way. As good as the D is PITT gives up big pass plays every game and usually more than one. It seems the opponents coaches know exactly when to sucker in the D backs for a big play.
I guess you didn't see the wide open receivers dropping passes. Also we probably lead the nation in blown coverages.
I only blame the refs for losses when the deserve it. The refs arent why we loss to Miami, never said it was. When it is a one point game and they made horrendous calls that gave teams points or took away from us... and we out gained the other team, then yes, it is their fault. I dont understand why people are so against the fact that refs make mistakes too. They obviously do. There will NEVER be a game we play a perfect game, and maybe outside of Clemson, that goes for almost every team in the USA.
Yeah we are playing good d even with all the injuries. I like the scheme. The aggressive style leads to a couple gaffs but I prefer that to the old style of letting teams nickel and dime you all the way down the field
What dbacks missed assignments? I saw lbs twice. Miami couldn’t really move the ball against us.
Pinnock and Ford were yelling at each other after 1 blown assignment that lead to a TD.
definitely have to lay at least most of the blame on the defense for both losses. A Premier D does not allow a first time starting QB to drive 80 yards with no timeouts and convert a 4th and 10 nor allow BC on third and 10 in OT to throw a TD from the 25. Stop them there maybe they miss a 42 yarder or we still score in OT and the xtra point is moot so I definitely place the blame on the D. Even Saturday 3 of Miami’s TDS were wide open busts and a penalty allowed them to keep a drive alive and score so to me the defense shoulders a lot of the blame especially knowing the struggles of the offense.
