I can remember when duzz was hired, the MSU's fans said that his defenses will suffer the first couple years and then we will start seeing his scheme. I think we are seeing it, finally, this year. Our D has kept quite a few teams from the endzone, some games the opponent has scored at will. Never the less, I can see where our D is headed.
Offense - wow! Maybe we were spoiled under Canada or maybe the talent level we had on O was just outstanding.... i suspect somewhere in the middle. Anyway, my point is duzz, as far as I know by reading here and other places, he let's the oc have near total control of the offense. Clearly, Watson's scheme and play calling has not only been abysmal but downright mind numbing. For this alone he needs to be replaced. Add onto his role is qb coach. Pickett has not improved at all under Watson. Lots of examples in today's game. Double whammy for watson.
If I were to do an end of year eval on the duzz, I would give him a B-. To improve that score, he needs to replace some coaches on the offensive side, starting with the OC, to no surprise of anybody I am guessing. Right now, I would argue, by keeping Watson and other O coaches, he is hurting recruiting on that side of the ball.
Another frustrating season with moments of happiness.
