no question our recruiting has really been picking up for most positions but it better because so is the oppositions . Whether it’s the ACC or future non conference opponents like NDame - Tennessee or Wisconsin they are stepping it up as well. Furthermore in the next few years our crossover includes FSU, Clemson and Louisville. Divisional opponents like North Carolina and Miami have top 15 classes. Miami - which has had QB issues in recent years added talented Houston transfer King who is eligible now and the rumor is that Tua,s brother has entered the transfer portal from Alabama and logically Miami is a destination with his brother set down there. He threw 135 td passes in high school.
Va. Tech and UVA. Always recruit well in fertile Tidewater area and Ga . Tech now with a modern day offense will start attracting some of that southern talent for their offense.Hopefully tomorrow we will add a few more verbals at need positions.

We need to step up our recruiting to keep up with UNC, Miami, FSU, VT and UVA and of course Clemson. I am glad we are concentrating down south where much of the speed is.

Also - What's with all the enabler u fans on our board? They are sad & pathetic!

I’ve been waiting for Pitt to land a Gottfried-level recruiting class since......Gottfried.

Somewhere along the line I resigned myself tk the fact that that’s never gonna happen.

At this point making the top 25 a few classes in a row would be a massive improvement. But that appears to be out of reach as well.

As others have posted, we recruit like a 6-8 win team.Barring some unforeseen coaching genius that hasn’t surfaced to this point, we can look forward to more of the same.

I wonder how long UNC’s recruiting streak will last? Impressive nonetheless, but is it sustainable?

I almost wonder if, with the resources they’ve had at their disposal, they should’ve been at this level before now.

You could say the same thing about UVa but UVa can’t get 44 top recruits. I think Pitt needs to recruit to a system that fits theM. George Welsh won a lot games at UVa recruiting to his system.

My friend played for him at UVA. He told me that George didn't have a "system" other than to use his players to fit their talents. That and every week he would tweak a couple of plays that would zig rather than zag as they had the week before.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t be sustainable for at least a few seasons? Brown is an elite recruiter, and hired a staff geared towards recruiting. He’s selling the local talent on staying home and turning the program around. That’s something that can go a long way, if you know how to sell it.

The one issue they may have is OOS recruiting.
Right now UNC’s class has caught fire because they’ve done so well in state. But what happens when you run out of in state 4 star prospects? With 14 commits and an average recruit ranking of 91ish on 247, they still probably have a a decent amount of commits left to take. They’d have to do well with out of state 4 star players to maintain their current level.
Although that’s more about their current level as it relates to the elite classes of the country, not as it relates to our recruiting.

VT’s recruiting is collapsing, especially locally. They are doing so poorly in state that they attempted to focus on Texas to make up for it with a TX2VT movement. And now that’s collapsed because it’s difficult to go far away for top tier talent.

I see where Tennessee and Alabama product Jeremy Pruitt are currently Second in recruiting and currently have nine four stars and a five stars among their verbals. Last year they finished in top ten. Granted some of these players will be early in their careers in 2021 and 2022 but just realized we visit Neyland Stadium next September before they come here in 2022- which by the way in 2021 we play Clemson. This further justifies my original op that our recruiting has to pick up where it was recently .and it seems to have with last years class and so far this year with our new verbals. Honestly if - and this is a big if- we have a full season and we win nine or ten games our recruiting - provided we keep our top recruiters will improve even more.

He was a genius coach who did more with less. I think Pitt almost hired him but chose Foge instead.
