I know there were 4 but can only think of three - anyone playing PSU, WVU and ASU. I responded by saying personally that list would be followed very closely by ND.

I've revised my thoughts. #1 stays the same - PSU. But #2 is now ND. I will openly root for Kelly to blow another gasket like he did on his DC Saturday night. (And let's face it, time's waning for him to get them to the promised land of National Championship's and the pressure is ratcheting. And we all know Kelly has a bit of an issue with anger.) I hope they get beat every single time they run onto the field. I'd go so far as saying IF they ever played PSU - I just might root for the blue and white. Not sure. And that's how far my loathing has sunk.

1. PITT
2. USC
3. VIRGINIA
4. PSU, WVU, TEMPLE
5. ND, STANFORD, KSU,

Cap'n I think it was another list. Are you saying USC (Southern Cal?) is #2 on your list? And UVA is #3?
Yes, I enjoy both Universities and Programs due to Great Alumni that invite to their Games and they are fun people to be with always learning from them. The list is very tight, I go with Pitt First until they lose then switch to another Team, this year I am down to WVU and Stanford, and I follow the ACC Champs. These are Teams I enjoy to follow, discuss FB, and do not mind if they win, but love Pitt would play them more too.

Now I dislike Helton, Kelly, Mendenhall as Coaches, but find Franklin & Holgrosen acceptable and very much respect Rhule Shaw and Snyder!

I get little joy watching PSU & WVU losing, but I take great pleasure learning, listening, and following what happen there, so I know more than many of their Fans and take great joy when I tell them what they don't know about other Universities and Programs? I find these Average Fans are like the Japanese Businessmen the more you know about them, the farther stay away from you.

Just this week I watch PSU-TU & Steeler game with Penn State Fans and one brought out a Newspaper and showed me the first Paragraph how Paterno's Statue will be returned and put back up.

He read it wrong? It was in the Sunday PPG and we were in Fox Chapel and I had to tell him he was wrong, and it was about a Video that Honor Joe and condemned by every Major Media Publication. He walked away dumbfounded and carefully read it again? i don't learn much from them as Average Fan, but the Boosters know much more and share it with me, and why I hang there to meet them.

These are Silent but mannerly Cultists who adore Paterno and quite jealous of Pitt grabbing Narduzzi I might add! They do not like Franklin either!

I do not care for ASU, OU, Oregon, and UNC but don't hate them either, just ignore watching them!

I've rooted against ND for years, my 2 favorite teams were Pitt and any team playing ND, and now I added any team playing state penn

I like Navy, because I live near them and they are kind of a David, that sometimes slays Goliath, and have been to their stadium and loved it.

Also like Marshall, good friend of mine went there, and I've been there to see games and loved that place too. And they also at times have stepped up and beaten big time teams.

Of course not when they're playing Pitt.

If we are going to have scorn for Penn State and how the Sandusky crap was handled we must have similar scorn for how Notre Dame basically sent a kid to his death and no one gave a shit. We sit here and debate whether or not joe knew, yet Kelly and his whole staff were ON THE FIELD when this occurred. But nobody cares. Send the family a nice check, lifetime season tickets, some under armour gear and all is forgotten.

Pitt and Alabama (alma mater) are my teams. Then I automatically cheer for anyone playing PSU, WVU, Auburn, and Notre Dame. Auburn is a much smaller school and fanbase, but they are much like PSU. They believe they are hollier than thou, even though they have more skeletons in the closet than any program in the country. I won't be surprised a bit when they hire Art Briles in the offseason.

My top 5

1. Pitt
2. Anybody playing State Penn
3. Anybody playing State Penn
4. Anybody playing State Penn
5. Anybody playing State Penn

Is anybody catching on to how much I hate those disgusting SOBs.

I've always liked the urban schools with some history. And, my favorite HC is Shaw at Stanford.

So... Unless they play Pitt or Pitt requires them to lose, I like Miami, UCLA, Stanford and Georgia Tech.

By league... I've always liked Sparty best in the B1G. In the SEC I've always pulled for Tennessee. Big 12 is tough. Don't really like any of 'em. I guess, if pressed, I'd say Oklahoma State because I grew adoring Barry Sanders. Pretty indifferent about the teams in the AAC.

Yep. Pretty much for me. Add WVU behind that and now ND has climbed into the list along with tOSU.

PITT
Alabama ( HS coach made us watch Bama tape because we played the same D)
Florida
Michigan St
Michigan
Clemson

  1. Pitt
  2. Navy (always considered them my 1-B team loved the games there)
  3. Iowa (had a fantastic trip out there a few years ago fans are amazing)
  4. Michigan St (because of coach Duzz of course)
  5. Clemson (can't wait for this trip)
  6. New Mexico (cousins went there)
  7. Shippensburg (some buddies of mine and I have an annual tailgate there as it's very close to my home)
  8. Army (really wish Pitt would do a home and home with them)
  9. Syracuse (best hot dog I've ever eaten)
  10. Tennessee (looking forward to this trip too a close friend of mine played baseball for them when Manning was there)

1. P I DOUBLE T
.
.
.
.
.
2. Service Academies (Army, AFA, Navy in that order)
3. Michigan St
4. aTm (Kyle Field trip sold me!)

Teams to root for (in order)

1) Pitt
2) Army, then the other service academies (Point blank you are a DICK if you can't root for the service academies)
3) Anyone playing State Penn
4) Anyone playing WVU
5) Anyone playing ND

My alma mater is also in the SEC, although I'm not so much of a fan. I tend to believe that every SEC school has that hollier than thou mentality. And they are all under impression that a Saturday afternoon spent in their stadium is some sort of religious experience.

As for the original topic, I tend to like everyone and don't really cheer against any particular team. I also lean toward the big city or pro town schools.

Auburn literally thinks it is a "God Thing" with them and their creed and "being an Auburn man" is something special. They are pretty cultish. Texas A&M is really weird, too, but they are more nerdy weird and don't believe they are superior.

I don't know about religious experience but SEC gamedays are so much better than a Pitt tailgate/gameday, it really isn't even close. The food, drinks, women, weather, and in stadium experience are light years ahead of 95% of schools. Really, only a handful of B1G schools, plus Texas and OU can compete.

1. Pitt, actually didn't go there...but went to my first game in 1975 and have been die hard since. I am one of those Pittsburghers that believes the home team comes first, can't stand the ND subway fans in Pittsburgh.

2.Navy-Being a Parris Island alum, Navy comes second.

3. Army- I love watching the service academies run their offenses. Plus they play with such discipline. Really the only thing that gives them an edge.

People dislike PSU and their fan base base/culture etc. But Notre Dame takes the cake. Are ND players really passing those difficult class loads? Are they really going to church and living a religious lifestyle? Get real. ND, their fans, culture etc. are the most hypocritical, holier than thou, program/fans in the world. Just disgusting.

I'll be big fans of Michigan and Michigan State this Saturday. The Wolverines are playing the Nitters and Sparty is taking on Wisconsin. I'm so down on Chryst for how bare he left the cupboard at QB and his disgusting recruiting on defense.

I like Pitt far and away first

Then:

Duke (went to college here)
Alabama (lived there)
Vanderbilt (worked there)

Also root for Washington as I lived up there too and think it's one of the most beautiful campuses i ever seen other than Pitt

After Pitt, FSU is my strong #2. I grew up in Tallahassee, went to a ton of games back when they were just becoming a national powerhouse (early 80s to early 90s) and both parents either went to or worked at Florida State. Its been on my list to get back for a game at some point, though not when they are playing Pitt. Great program, great school, great (and very underrated) city.

Michigan St. is next, just because I see their program from the late 90s in a lot of ways as similar to ours. They also seem to punch above their weight with the big boys which is what we hope to do in the coming years. I spent a number of years working in South Bend and it was fun to watch them beat the domers with regularity.

1. Pitt
2. Louisville
3. USF
4. Temple
5. Navy

I like city schools, obviously.
Navy is not a city school IMO, Annapolis is the state capital, but it's a small town and pretty far away from Baltimore and DC, definitely not in their metro areas I don't think.

Yeah, its a different type of gameday atmosphere. I know I'm definitely in the minority here, but some of my favorite games at Pitt were noon games where the crowd was only around 40K or so... BC 2004, Cincinnati 2007.

Teams I root for:
1- Pitt
2- Other ACC schools when Pitt is not playing against them.

Teams I never root for..
1) Penn State (delusional fans)
2) WVU (just some messed-up fans)
3) ND (arrogant fans)
4) Ohio State (arrogant fans)

Who do I root for? My username is an obvious clue.

That said, it's perhaps as obvious that I have an intense dislike for (in order) Evillainova, State Farm, and a tie between the Rugrats and the Hoopies.
