The Pirates are interested in this guy, and the article tell all about his professional career to date as well as his local roots.

The article points out he grew up in Brookline, and at age 5 he moved to Penn Hills. The article also mentions he graduated from Central Catholic and currently resides in Oakmont.

And yet, nowhere in this piece does it mention that LaCava is a Pitt grad who played baseball for Pitt in the early 80"s.

Now, certainly, if this writer was informed of where the guy grew up as a kid and where he went to HS then CERTAINLY, he knew LaCava played at Pitt. And yet, no mention at all.

Pitt fans have every reason to ignore the post gazette. Better yet, for those of you that are hunters, take a copy or two with you, in case you get lost in the woods.

What's a "post-gazette"? Sounds like dope smoking antelope.

People are obviously voting with their wallets when it comes to the PG, since they will soon no longer have a print edition. However, the wish to have them fold completely is misguided. As a region, we are already suffering due to a lack of any oversight over our politicians and corporations from an old-fashioned press corps, and it's only going to get worse as these papers sink into oblivion. What's the corny motto of the Washington Post, Democracy Dies in Darkness? Sadly, that is true.

You will have to add Wikipedia to the anti-Pitt conspiracy, since his bio on that site makes no mention of his Pitt playing days, either.

They have good beat reporters who do serious stories and would be very missed. The hope would be someone like Rich Lord could get hired at Public Source.

On the bright side, it's leave Ron Cook without a column.

There is a profound difference between wikipedia and presumed professional journalism.

No?
You presented the lack of this detail as proof of an anti-Pitt agenda, and I am just pointing out that another source, in fact the major source on the internet for this kind of information, also does not have this detail. So maybe it has nothing to do with an agenda.

Well,

What else could it be?

I mean.....the article includes where he grew up (Brookline), where he moved to (Penn Hills) and where he makes his home (oakmont). And, the article mentions where he went to high school, but not college?

That tells me the writer is painting a picture of a hometown guy.

So....unless you disagree with the above, why wouldnt you ( the writer for the PG) include that he attended Pitt?

Or perhaps I should pose the question this way.....

If you were writing this article for the PG....the hometown paper...

Would you omit his being a Pitt grad?

It is mystifying why the PG would not mention his attending Pitt
