First and foremost it was a great game, that said I noticed the usual negatives posts.
Yes the officiating was suspect but the bottom line is Pitt was out coached. That is the complete truth of the matter everything else is an excuse or typical whining.
That is not a negative except for it seemed like Canada called plays more like he did early and not like he had late in the season (more Villanova then Clemson yet Pitt was in the game to the end.
Despite the many naysayers Pitt's future looks bright ,and maybe as fans we are expecting to much to soon. Narduzzi is a great coach and recruiter and Pitt will be a consistent top 10 (at least top 25) school in the future.

I totally agree, in about 2 more years the entire roster will be Narduzzi recruits, the future does look bright

Come on... out coached??? The game was even. None of our coaches coached conner, peterman, whitehead, Webb, Hamlin, Johnson, Blair, Jarrett, Hall, and others to be out of the game... no coach threw 3 INTs, no coach made our guys slip constantly, or allowed a back to run 70 yards, coaches didnt make a missed FG, or cause dumb penalties, didnt make our key guys fumble, or seniors drop touchdown passes. I mean, the coaches put Pitt, all year, in position to win games, the players execute to win those games. When we arent even in that position, then the coaches suck. Fitzgerald and Narduzzi are good coaches.

Gosh, just say... hey we didnt get the bounces or breaks. Why is everything the coaches fault all the time??? Everyone wants to dump on Canada, our game plan was great, just like our others this year. We altered pass coverages, and it allowed them to run more effectively, but all of that didnt matter. Any of the above things go our way, and we win. It was a one score game.

With only average execution they win by 14. That's solely on the players.

I love Narduzzi but we are a long way off from being a top 10 team. Top 25 maybe but come on top 10 that's a bit extreme. I think we will struggle next year getting to 8 wins breaking in a new QB and having to really find some DB's. I think the year after we will start seeing improvements if we have a QB.

Anybody check why Pitts players kept ice skating and Northwestern seemed to have much trouble running? If it was the cleats why weren't they changed ? The skating and slipping caused a lot of Pitts scoring trouble

Miss opportunities early and injuries later.
I think those things were pretty clear.

I don't buy the out coached part. Between Aston slipping and Conner (to me) being on top of players when he reached the ball in on 4th down, we lost a TD there that we literally get 99 times out of 100 times.

Then Nate with his worst INT since the Miami game. A miss with a makeable FG. Then the red zone pic later in the game, but who knows if the game plays out that way. But that is literally 24 points that was left on the table.

Even still, I think we overcome those things without the injuries

But that isn't poor coaching.

I'd say of the many factors of why we lost, piss poor tackling was the largest single contributor. I have never seen a defense so reluctant to wrap their arms around an oppenent and drive into him. Rather they just tried to bump them off balance and hoped they would fall....which they didn't.
This blame the refs, blame the dirty NW players and their cheapshots BS is from people in denial (not you).

Why do we never seem to have the right cleats? This seriously goes back 20 years and about 10 coaches? We always look like we've gone mudding while the other team has no issues with traction. It's basic crap that we never seem to get right.

I think you covered it well. I just wonder why some Pitt fans, if they really are, have their head planted firmly up their gazoo, or the slightest idea what happens after the opening kickoff.

Outcoached is right.
When your players can't execute basic shit like taking a handoff, snapping the football, and being prepared for the playing surface then you didn't prepare your team properly.
It looked like the first day of spring practice out there. Just awful.

They played down to their competition. Plain and simple. It happens a lot. I kept waiting for the talent to takeover, but once it got taken out of the game via cheap shots I knew a loss was likely.

The fact that Pitt almost won the game despite all this and the injuries is remarkable. Reminds me of the Gottfriend-era games I've seen on YouTube where Pitt would do whatever it wanted on offense and defense but keep the other team in the game w/ stuff like fumbled snaps, botched punt returns, etc.

I actually think the QB did OK, I forget his name. He's no Peterman but he'll be fine for next year. Didn't look like a deer in headlights at all, played w/ confidence, and showed he can run. Not sure why people are down on him.
