...it is good to see them display "toughness" down the stretch. We still don't have a true 5, and M Young is playing a lot of minutes for a big. Playing out of position is one thing, but doing so with little rest while being targeted by the other teams post edge is another. He hung tough taking a critical charge down the stretch, and not allowing fatigue to get him into foul trouble. James' willingness to drive and his improved ability to finish is what saved this game. His perimeter d seems to be improving, but he will always be challenged by quicker feet and apparently phantom fouls on 3 point attempts...was that one of the worst calls ever by the way..replay had about a 4 inch gap between him and shooter. But, he too showed toughness and enough athleticism down the stretch to keep Pitt from caving. I give credit to Newkirk as well. We needed him at the line in crunchtime and he delivered. He often seems to take charity for granted, but was able to show mettle when it mattered. That wasn't a great Oakland team, but they were a tough match for us given their experience and skill inside where we have very few defensive answers. Lucky to get a win? No the victory was still earned with the one thing this team always seem to have some of...toughness.
