After having their ups and downs with Leach and Kingsbury I thought they would make a conscious decisions to change their offensive personality with the next coaching choice.
Apparently not.
BINGO! Lubbock is about as exciting as watching paint dry. Middle of nowhere. Makes Morgantown look like a thriving metropolis...
Is there a casino? A whorehouse? That's sufficient. Plus, a thousand times better recruiting ground.

Yea, I think people are just speculating because he was there for 7ish years, then Houston then Ok St so he’s familiar with the area
Gotta get this guy out of Morgantown. He's excellent. I would think he could get a better job than that though. Like if I was USC, I'd take him way before Franklin. Holgy is a COACH. Franklin is a recruiter. But USC recruits itself. He'd be running the Mike Leach Air Raid offense with 4 and 5 star players from SoCal

USC needs a COACH. Franklin is average at coaching. Anybody can recruit at USC. For Pitt, I'd take Franklin. If I was USC, I'd take the better coach, which is Holgy
It’s hard not to win at USC, it takes a combination of bad coaching and bad luck.

Yes, which is why I think it's very stupid of them to look at Franklin, who is not known to be good at coaching but rather wins 9+ per season simply by fielding a better roster than his opponent. USC, no matter who the coach is, should have a better roster than 11, maybe all 12 teams they are playing. What they need is a good coach. Why not a Chris Petersen? Kyle Whittingham? The NW coach? Those are the types of guys I'd be looking at
Unless Holgerson is unhappy at WVU, then I don't see the reason to move. Lubbock strikes me as the "Morganton" of Texas. Recruiting might be easier but expectations rise as well.

Guys there is lot of money out there all from fracking oil in the west texas region. Lots of rich make it extremely rich alumni. Don't kid yourself. WVU can't match what he will be offered.
When a big donor stepped up and sweetened the deal for Huggy, that was different. That was Huggy coming home. Holgy is not from there, so if there is the chance to go back to his roots, have better recruiting options....I would think he would be interested.
Lubbock must be a real sh*hole. I remember the Bill King/Tommy Tuberville interviews on Rivals Radio when King would try to nudge Tubs into saying something nice about Lubbock, and Tubs would either bite his tounge or give sarcastic compliments. After the interview concluded, King would go on to tell listeners how much Tubberville hated Lubbock. That's saying a lot for a guy that spent so much time in Auburn, AL & Oxford MS.
Franklin didn't win at Vandy because he had 5-star talent. He isn't exactly outrecruiting Michigan or Ohio State either.
Franklin beat very few teams with winning records at Vandy and he brought in Vandy's best ever recruiting classes
If you want to compare rosters and recruiting rankings though, He won a lot of games against teams with superior talent.
I thought he was from Iowa. Maybe he went to college in Iowa. Either way he has roots and history in those states as well as Texas

Thank you we Wvu fans needed put in our place for thinking we have average IQs.For what it's worth Holgy isn't going to Texas Tech take that to the bank!Now Colorado is a much better bet,if I were a betting man!We aren't worried if Holgy leaves because if he leaves we'll get Saban as HC,Rich Rod as OC,Jimbo as QB coach,Jeremy Pruitt as DC and Franklin as recruiting coordinator.Let's go Mountaineers!
But this is an interesting scenario. If Holgo leaves, where does WVU go for their next head coach?
