I’ll agree let Israel be Israel but on the world stage U. S. is the only country to stand up for Israel. Israel has their own internal political problems. However Israel also has to fight the anti Israel narrative brought on by the left in this country.
One thing I have always thought about Israel if there wasn’t outside forces trying to eliminate the country there might be a war between the Ultra Orthodox and the conservative and reform Jews. The orthodox want to run the country their way and the others want to live like European countries.
Good post. It's the "Ultra" part that's the problem IMO. I have empathy for the desire for a homeland, regardless whether or not I agree with the theological stuff. Ethnicity is a bond and, in the face of persecution, you kinda have to ignore the family members who are aholes and just stick together. We've all been there in some manner.
I think the best thing for countering the image of the "rabid Zionist' is when Jewish folks are willing to criticize some of Bibi's more extreme policies. But then the fear arises that a divided Israel could bring down Israel. It's a difficult situation, which is why I don't want to be involved. There's like no good options.
If the West Bank was allowed to be a separate State, maybe the Gazans could be repatriated (either to there or to another Arab country), but giving up claims the West Bank is probably too big an ask for the settlers and the "Ultras". 🤷

The are basically the Palestinians who live on the West Bank of the Jordan River and Palestinians who live in Gaza (the Gazans who are now being shelled).
Arab countries don't want Gazans at this point. My guess is they just want this crap to be over with. The West Bank Palestinians probably don't want them either. There's been animosity between both groups' political leaderships over the years.
Notwithstanding the religious conflict that developed once Islam began, there has been MIddle Eastern Jews living peacefully in Arab Palestine. When the Zionists brought in waves of Eastern European Jews who took over, the Arabs really turned against the Jews/Zionists. Unless you know more or less the entire history it can be confusing for sure.
