The Washington Post CRUSHES Penn State

Very good post, and sorry I did not see that suggestion before I posted my own view that Sara Ganim deserves the recognition, for being brave enough in exposing how her own Alma Mater cared more about Football than saving, protecting, and preventing Children from abuse.

Even worse, when Sara Ganim she wrote the truth and won National Journalistic Awards, she was vilified, attacked, and criminally harassed by Penn Staters instead of being praised and thankful for helping clean up the Penn State Football Program.

If Penn State University wants to really gain recognition for the Penn State Scandal 2012 Reforms. They should invite all the Writers like Jenkins, Bernstein, Wetzel and many others that were attacked by Emails, Phone and Twitter by the PSU Cultists and honor the Writers.

In this way, those Writers can be welcomed and write about the changes at Penn State all by showing how they are not afraid to accept responsibility of what went wrong, got rid of people that were not accountable and how no coaches, players, athletes, professors, and employees will ever above Institutional Control.

They should the do the same for the Victims, Victim's families, and Victim's Lawyers too!

This is what they should do at Penn State to begin the healing to move on and start to change their image, and not demanding the Paterno Statue or Paterno Era back on Campus!

As a way for a settlement give the Paterno access and loans on Penn State Football and let the Paterno Family & Friends & Players set up the Paterno Statue in the Private Paterno Museum in State College. This way Paterno is still honored by those that want to honor him, and Penn State avoids the issues of doing it.

Penn State can respond with confidence and pride, we choose to honor the Victims, Families, Writers , Prosecutors, Investigators, NCAA Monitor, and Media that exposed that Scandal and led to the Reforms to protect Children for the future and not any sport first and foremost.

They should also invite Buzz Bissinger(author of 'Friday Night Lights'), who spoke the truth about Paterno and his inaction as the Most Powerful Person in Creepy Valley in 2001. Telling your Puppet AD is not good enough. They were not selling Life Size Cardboard Cutout Figures of Curley, Spanier & Schultz. Nothing says 'CULT' better than buying one of those Cardboard Cutouts of Mr. 'Bury My Head in the Sand(usky)'.

Additionally, has given Franklin a great excuse of saying why he feels the Paterno Legacy has made his Third Year his First Year?

ARTICLE:
FIGHT PAST PATERNO:

Solomon: The complicated future of Penn State is in the hands of coach James Franklin but still largely tied to the past and the legacy of Joe Paterno.

Excerpt:
Allegations that one unnamed man described to CNN from 1971 were horrific, particularly his claim that Paterno and another Penn State official accused him of lying when the man said Sandusky raped him. “Stop this right now! We'll call the authorities,” the man said Paterno and another official told him. “I just wanted to get off the phone.”

Trauma that Sandusky's victims experienced and still live with daily cannot compare to a university or football program trying to rebuild. They're not even in the same equation.

Still, what's unmistakable is the division that remains at Penn State, as evidenced by what transpired in the past week and through interviews conducted for this story prior to the latest developments.

Five years isn't long enough to heal fresh wounds. Criminal trials and lawsuits are still pending, including one civil suit by Paterno's family aided by several university board members that seeks to exonerate the legendary coach.

“I think the biggest mistake the university made was to immediately distance itself from Joe Paterno,” said Anthony Lubrano, a Penn State board member involved in a lawsuit against the NCAA. “It so angered the Penn State community that, in the absence of coming to an agreement with the Paternos, this university will remain split.

"It has not healed, and it manifests itself at Beaver Stadium every Saturday when there aren't 107,000 people. There were a couple games it was probably 80,000 people. It's that an important issue to the Penn State community. Joe Paterno represented that much to the Penn State community that the fact they distanced themselves from him is just wrong.”

(Lubrano described one new allegation that Paterno knew in 1976 that Sandusky molested boys as "uncorroborated and baseless," and he called on Penn State to release the "full context" of the claim. The victim's deposition was sealed by a judge.)

History is still writing the final chapters of who knew what and when about Sandusky, even though we'll likely never know everything and most people's opinions are firmly entrenched. It's hard not to wonder if Penn State will need several decades before truly becoming united again.

The fight for Paterno's legacy
Even as Penn State tries to move forward, the past won't go away. Former Penn State president Graham Spanier, former vice president Gary Schultz and former athletic director Tim Curley await trials for their alleged role in covering up Sandusky's crimes.

Citing a university audit, the Associated Press reported in November that Penn State has so far paid out nearly $93 million in settlements to 32 claims of sexual abuse by Sandusky. That's about $8 million more than the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston paid to settle about 550 lawsuits by people who said they were sexually abused by priests.

A court case over who must pay some of those settlements -- Penn State or its insurance company -- brought to light one of the latest Paterno allegations. In a court order, the judge referenced a man's claim that he told Paterno in 1976 that Sandusky abused him. The man's deposition is under seal. The judge rejected Penn State's argument that its insurer should cover nearly all of the settlement payments, meaning the university may not be able to recover millions of dollars it already paid out.

Initially, Penn State put out a statement last week that said the university doesn't “speculate publicly or hypothesize about individual allegations. These are sensitive matters, and we want to be respectful of the rights of all individuals involved. It would be inappropriate to do otherwise.”

Then Barron, Penn State's president, cast doubts about the latest allegations in a letter Sunday to the university community. Barron said Penn State cannot find evidence that an alleged “early assault” was communicated to Paterno, noting “this raises considerable credibility issues as to this press report.”

...........AND MOST IMPORTANT...........

EXCERPT:
However, a Penn State spokesman confirmed to the Associated Press that the earliest year of alleged abuse covered in Penn State's settlements is 1971. That's the first confirmation of how far back the Sandusky abuse claims go -- 40 years before his arrest. Penn State has not explained what steps it took to verify allegations during the settlement process.

The Paterno family continues to fight for Joe Paterno's legacy. Sue Paterno said in a statement the family has no knowledge of new claims related to her husband. She called for an end to what she described as “this endless process of character assassination by accusation.”

You're kidding right?
Paterno threatens to "call the authorities" when told of Sandusky's alleged rape?!
You mean he was going to wait over the weekend and then call the University President?!?!
This is precisely the point. Someone shows harm to Joe's beloved football team and he is going to "call the authorities". Some kid without a Dad gets a shower with Sandusky and Joe doesn't want to ruin anyone's weekend and then calls his superiors (by title only).
Joe would have had the sh!t beat out of him if I found out he let my son go thru that. And I would have gladly testified at my trial that I beat the sh!t out of he and Sandusky.
Call the authorities.
Despicable.

Going on their message boards is like watching a car wreck...you don't want to look but you can't help it. Here's one cultist's view of the President's recent letter to the cult and the press:

This guy has a backbone and seems to understand what it means to be a Penn Stater.
This makes me a happy panda.

Well.....I can't argue that if denial, willful blindness, blaming the victims and cocooning in a cow pasture are some of the criteria then, YES, he does know what it means to be a Penn Stater.

I can't even read their board let alone post there. But I can't imagine that post is left up. Yeah, their judgment path is consistent. Their application of truth and facts though is all over the place. Joe is going to call the authorities on a kid who was reporting Sandusky's action. Yet, when a coach sees Sandusky in the act and reports it to Joe (again why wouldn't MM immediately intervene and call the police?) he decided to drink a glass of wine, have Sue make a nice plate of lasagna, kick back and relax and wait until Monday to tell his superiors. The same superiors he told to get off his lawn when they asked for his resignation.

It's really not that complicated. But they are applying the following to the most basic of activities:

"Saboteur, post: 1290174, member: 5688"]You're kidding right?
Paterno threatens to "call the authorities" when told of Sandusky's alleged rape?!
I agree with you this sounds like the Paterno of 1960s and 1970s going around breaking Big Four Agreement, and then attacking other Coaches and Programs, and choosing Ref Guman until Bama exposed it, etc etc and I am putting up something soon showing the Press questioned Paterno back in 1980s so others can judge his behavior during those times on other matters.

Yet, all the information needs to be come out and I agree Penn State did pay for the Victim to prevent all that Info not just in one this case but others from coming out. Until they unseal all of the information filed withe Courts, or the Victim comes out with his own Book, there are unknowns hard to conclude upon to be fair. For Example, I have real trouble believing Assistant Coaches stood by and watched a Child be abused? Even Prosecutors admitted they never found or heard that kind of information. This does not make them right or wrong. Sandusky's Lawyers are going after PAOAG Fina too using AG Kane to testify what she found when she took office on Grand Jury Leaks. ????? I can wait, read and link!

Since PSU Sued its Insurer from 1980's and it came out the Insurer put Clauses not covering Children Abuse Crimes due to there Due Diligence Judgments with Special Clauses, this is the transparency the Insurers are arguing and has caused a reaction back on PSU and they brought that upon themselves, The Media wants those Cases Unsealed now. We shall see?

You mean he was going to wait over the weekend and then call the University President?!?!
This is precisely the point.
I never disputed your point or others and said it is fair game to ask why that happen, and even Paterno admitted he should have done more, just said I can wait and let all that come out in Lawsuits. Also, Freeh finding Emails corrected much of PAOAG wrong info in the Sandusky Grand Jury Presentment that was illegally leaked and at Trial and Sandusky's son too....Yet the Paterno's Lawyers hired Clemente and he says no one knew about Sandusky and i posted the Interview Link and now Clemente may have to change his Expert Opinion, but I can wait to see what happens too? This is what the Paterno's Lawsuit is partly about and blames sloppy investigations, used Experts (Clemente and Thornburgh) on Freeh coming to some wrong conclusion and in Discovery but even that part will be used in open court and then one does nor know how Freeh, NCAA, Penn State will react either and with what information. I am saying, I can wait for that Trial, or Judges dismisses it, or Paterno's withdraws, or Settlement of the Civil Lawsuits. In addition, I always said after reading the Freeh Report most of it dealt with why Penn State put in 116 of 119 Freeh Recommendations Reforms under an NCAA Monitor. Therefore, I can wait and be prudent to see what comes out again or something new comes out like we saw in Insurance Unsealed Judge's Bombshell line. So, on your precise point, I am just saying, there is now far more information under Seal that must come out, and the Insurers have shown Penn State open a can of worms that they later had to admit they paid off a victim on allegations still under seal, and the Media is striking back now saying, wait looks like far more than anything disclosed to date. I posted last week this is the kind of Transparency that brought many prior Penn State Lawsuits into a whelm whereby is now coming back on all these Lawsuits and Criminal Trials aspects of the PAOAG Sloppy investigation corrected by Freeh and the Appeals Charges. Also, can impact on the NCAA reducing the Sanctions. Very complicated and we shall see what Civil Lawsuits go forth and what parts dismissed or even more Discovery come out? My wait and see views do not contradict your own precise views and I have said, the Paterno Lawsuit Discovery in a Defamation Case is a Two Way Street and opens up details they may not want to see, hear, and until the all the Info is unsealed. There are Victim's Lawyers agreeing with your view. All Is aid, good let it all out and then wait, see, and what is admitted and can be reviewed in public before Civil and Criminal Trials.

Someone shows harm to Joe's beloved football team and he is going to "call the authorities". Some kid without a Dad gets a shower with Sandusky and Joe doesn't want to ruin anyone's weekend and then calls his superiors (by title only).
The Media has been attacked on these issues, and Lawsuit filed by Spanier, Paterno''s Trustees, PS4RS, Alumni, and against Penn State and Penn State filing one against Insurers are still in Discovery and these issues are still being vetted and released now. Just a day ago, it has comes out some New Trustees agreed and voted with Penn State Settlements with victims in 1970s and 1980s, and sealing them.

Yet, once again, many at Penn state still blame only a few Old Guard Trustees and people like Ziegler, Blehar, Bagwell, Lubrano, New Trustees and the Cultists are now reeling among themselves and what they thought they demanded to be unsealed and wanted Transparency and now upset they got it. They even fight among themselves like Ziegler and Blehar? So, I say, I can wait for everything to come out in Civil Lawsuits and Criminal Trials. I can also give my opinions that i find hard to believe against Paterno's and the Unsealed Info may prove my views wrong and the Paterno's too, I rather just wait and hear all and see what happens in those cases. This does not counter your points and views at all either. I just want more Info released now, not less to change my views and see if Clemente changes his own views and if that happens, many Civil Cases will be thrown out, Dismissed, and quickly Settled??? Or even worse for all at Penn State come out at Trial in Public and fair game for Media fodder and all Documents details too that may be even more explosive and allow the victim's to respond.

Joe would have had the sh!t beat out of him if I found out he let my son go thru that. And I would have gladly testified at my trial that I beat the sh!t out of he and Sandusky. Call the authorities.
Despicable.
I have no problem with your view and judgments on this above, those are fine by me reading them. I would prefer just to see ALL The Victim's Information Filed with PSU and made PSU Payout Settlements to keep such Info away from any Trials and are Sealed. I also want to see all Discovery Info and can wait for those Civil Lawsuits decided as well. And in the emantime as all is coming out, Penn State, Cultists that attacked the Media, Trustees, Freeh, NCAA, and Penn State itself will have to deal with Transparency that is a TWO WAY STREET, not anyone ONE WAY Scenario. Even Freeh can't wait now and Spanier's Defamation Case against Freeh was a Legal Tactic to help Spanier Criminal Case more than any Civil Lawsuit.

The Fishing Cans of Worms in Discovery in all these cases continue to move slowly through all the dirt and are consuming all in their paths to find all of the truth even the parts sealed as well as a Coaches Coffin that can't respond, but the family chose to Re-Open and we shall see what more comes out or what Lawsuits slowly goes away or is tried before a Judge or Jury under a MEDIA SPOTLIGHT? I can wait, watch, and see and be fair to all with my own views based on what was discovered and when, it is complicated, but so are all Lawsuits!

I have always said without equivocation this is a complete PENN STATE UNIVERSITY AND FOOTBALL PROGRAM SCANDAL and all happen under "The Paterno Football Era" with many Penn State Employees, Charities, Graduates, and Alumni, Former Players, Trustees, and Administrators and all happen at PENN STATE.

They and the Media and many others all want to know what happen and is happening, and so be it!

And the costs to file, discover, and defend or accuse wrong doing and then having to prove it, are rising faster than any expected, but that is what happens when one goes to Court or is in the Criminal Justice System!

Yet, PSU Football just wants to move on since they are now under 2012 Reforms put in under a NCAA Monitor and the University & Fan Base is divided between honoring Paterno and just letting him Rest In Peace, and now it is still all about Penn State and that is because it happen at Penn State, now many just wan to know when and how long and what all knew?

The more Media and Experts they invite to see the Reforms put in 2012 to correct the 1967-2011 University-Football Era the better as far as I am concern. The Media helps reform systems and organizations where laws, compliance, and rules were not being followed.

The Alleged Criminal Charges remaining continue on Appeal and Trial Prep, and the Civil Lawsuits have open up Public Opinion, none of them expected, and some may have to be moved to other Counties and Venues?
