is no more Bubble Watch posts from UPitt'89. I really enjoyed them as I know a lot of others did, too. Also, it makes watching the Selection Sunday a bit uneventful knowing your team is out of contention for getting an at-large bid. Even the most ardent and optimistic Pitt fan knows our chances of winning the ACCT - especially with this year's team - is highly unlikely.

Oh well; let's see what next week brings and if we get a decent seed in the NIT. Only objective left I guess. Finish as strong as possible and hope for better things next year ...

just shocking no selection sunday. wow. second time in 12 years

noelr, your sarcasm aside (if indeed it was sarcastic) my comment was not meant as a slam against a program (Pitt) that clearly has achieved a lot of success reaching the NCAA's. And maybe it's my point; we've had a system that made the post-season almost regularly during Jamie's tenure. But the regression - contributed by transfers, recruiting misses, suspensions, etc - is NOT characteristic of what we've been. It won't get any easier in the ACC where there is almost a perfect "bell curve" of the top teams, middling teams, and bottom feeders. Right now I am not seeing much more tha us being a middling team in this conference. The next two-three years will speak volumes of which direction Pitt BB will head in this league. And THAT will have a direct effect on whether we return to NCAAT or not

no sarcasm at you at all moe. I am truly stunned I don't have to tune in two sundays. As sick as I am now, it will be worse in two sundays. I agree with you that we may be middling, but you could have said the same thing when we were in the Big East, although now we face blue bloods and near blue bloods plus up and comers. I will be tough. UNC, Duke, Ville, Miami, UVA, Cuse, ND, and Buzz will get Va tech going.

thanks for the explanation!

Reading your last sentence is pretty sobering. When you consider that 6 of the 7 teams you list (save for Miami) are perennial NCAAT invitees, and the days of 8-9 teams from a P5 conference getting to the Dance are probably over, we will have to supplant one of them to get back. As I said, the next 2-3 years will speak volumes. Here's hoping ...
