I have been meaning to touch on this for a while.
Is the problem with the Pitt D on the big play and 2 minute drill actually the run D?
The way I see it, the run D is so good that the defensive backfield has to do more than they normally would.
For example today BC has about 160 passing yards but over 100 rushing early in the 3rd.
BC didn’t get 100 on Pitt the whole game but threw for 350.
I’m saying that Pitt’s dominance vs. the run encourages opponents to just throw throw throw against a D that is still worried about the run first which increases the chances of the big play through the air.
I don’t have any suggestions to remedy this but it just seems like quarterbacks feast on us because Pitt is still focused on stoop something that opponents barely try to do.
