It will. Losing by 30+ points maybe even 40 points today, plus being 3-4 in our past 7 games, losing to an awful ND team that had lost 7 in a row before smoking us and never won again after that, with our already bad metrics = Dayton maybe or NIT.
He should still be on the hot seat. We need to see what he does next season here. That's the key. This team was fun to watch and surprised us all but they're done. Even if they make the Dance they'll be 1 and done. Even in Dayton.
It wont. Even if we lose in the 1st Round of the NIT, he has 2023-24 and 2024-25. If he doesn't make the tournament in those years, then he is gone. If we do make the NCAAT, he can miss it the next 3 years.
If I had the money I'd take you up on that bet. This game will be our last mark on the season; the most recent sample the Committee can evaluate us on, and we absolutely laid an egg. Losing 3 of our last 4 with the one win being a nailbiter against one of the worst teams in the conference is what's gonna doom us. What a sad, sad ending to what was shaping up to be a dream season.

A 30+ point loss in a 4/5 game is damaging.

Oh in the big picture it was a great year. Today they sh*t the bed and embarrassed themselves. The concepts are not mutually exclusive.
i went off in another thread about these twins and how inept they are. that was before the game. seeing them both play significant minutes and my opinions on them were completely confirmed, gives me a tiny bit of satisfaction
But ends any talk about raises or extensions. it'll be do or die next year. I hope he turns it around.
Anyone else think that Duke got a lot better at the end of the season? That is what young teams with top level Freshman talent do.

Absolutely - You can still get pretty good odds on them making the Final 4 on DraftKings.
It's almost as though you don't know that Pitt had them beat in Durham until a late game meltdown. Look, if it makes you feel better to heap praise on Duke go for it. This Pitt team shouldn't have lost to them by 30 points, especially at this point in the year.
Instead of losing by 27 we could have lost by 14 if we played a really good game. Their Jimmy and Joe’s will be making millions in the NBA. It would be the equivalent to Pitt Football losing big to Alabama when they were on their A game.
OK. Lets say we lose the 1st Round of the NIT this year and go 16-15 next year. Fired?
I mean, today was embarrassing. Still a wildly successful season given where we've been. Was I ever fooled into believing we were all that good? Absolutely not. But let's not go too far off the deep end here. Losing to GT and not even playing in this game would have been more embarrassing than this.
