Holy crap -
Burton and Cummings are flat terrible this game
We’re forcing Elliot to go off the bounce as a result
Sheesh what a mess

If Capel had any pride he’d resign

I tried very hard on 4-5 straight possessions to figure out what they were running on offense. It honestly does not appear we are running anything other than a ball screen sometimes. There are no other screens and no movement.

Cummings falls for about 8th time and we’re down 5 all of a sudden?

Someone find that switch that gets flipped that makes us play stupidly for about five minutes at a time.

VCU is so bad. Someone is going to try spinning this into the twins and next year's recruiting class being some great foundation for the future. But no. Just don't.

Is there really nobody that can replace Elliott??? I don't think he could have had a worse game. A walk-on maybe???

Elliott was terrible and a big part of the loss.
Twins were fun at times.
Hinson decent bounce back.
Burton was good in the open court.
Nike seems likes he's not really going to be a contributor, which is a pretty big problem, especially with only really Nelly as a ball handler.
Team doesn't know how to win a close game.

Such a poorly coached team. Zero excuse to have not closed that game out.

VCU was handing the game over to Pitt all night and they never had the ambition to take it. I can’t overstate how bad VCU was and yet they found a way to win.

We have terrible coaches
We called a time out to have 4 guys stand around
That was my favorite. We called a TO and ran no play. We ended up with a bad shot that even the announcer called out? Where's the screens?

In my years involved in youth sports, I've noticed there's 2 kinds of coaches (granted most of these are volunteer dads like myself but we're involved with some paid coaches too):

- a real "coach"

- a guy who tells you what drills to do and makes lineups

What I mean is that I think Capel loves basketball. He loves leading a program but he isnt a real "coach." He's a guy who sets up drills, makes lineups, etc. He doesn't add any value in terms of making players or teams better by finding ways to get the most out of teams/players. In short, he is basically like that WPIAL gym teacher coach type.

Capel should be coaching Youth Basketball.

An HBCU is the next move. His dad coached at one and there's a lot of reasons that makes sense for him. And I think he can recruit well enough at that level where he can have, like a North Carolina Central type in the tournament every year.
