Years ago i was on a flight and sat next to John Cooper. He was recruiting the son of a guy i used to work with so he was willing to talk to me.

Ill never forget this; He said "out-recruiting your schedule gets you 7 wins before camp opens. The game day decisions you make with those recruits will determine the other 5.

I had no reason to disagree. In fact, I think he was prophetic.

We dont recruit well. We haven't had any extraordinary coaching since Canada left.

What is the point of keeping this guy?

What if the stability stinks you are keeping, still keep it for stability sakes? Why didn't we keep Stallings then ?

I don't think Narduzzi's results are anywhere near approaching Stallings.

Narduzzi showed he can win a few games with a talented roster (that he inherited). Stallungs took a winning team (albeit flawed) and destroyed it.

Narduzzi has 10 games left to show what he can do. If they go like 3-9.... then you move on. Another 5 win year gets him 2019 but time is running out if he doesn't show big time progress

Never really thought of things that way, but it makes complete sense.

I dont think they wanted Wanny gone, small vocal minority and the worst athletic director ever

The sad thing is, people say Steve didn’t have a plan. He did have a plan and it was Todd Graham.....who he had a hard-on for since day 1. After the Haywood fiasco he got the financial approval to go get his guy. Great move!

Todd Graham was on a radio show in WV, where he coached for some years, and told the host , we will see how this goes , my plan is to be there a few years only, he said that, we still hired him!

Nobody besides somebody with ties to Pitt/WPA is going to plan on staying at Pitt, which makes it even more insane to fire DW.

If hoops fans think Capel is a long term hire....hahahahahaha.

The sad thing is Graham wasn't a bad hire on paper. Most people could look at him at the time and recognize you found a potentially good coach. The problem with Graham is he was a terrible fit for a school like Pitt. In that sense, the hire was a disaster.

PITT had a world class AD, and management team in place at that time which did more damage to PITT athletics in a few short years than most thought was possible!

There’s ZERO ability to SPREAD the field in this current system.

In college ball, the ability to create TIME and SPACE wins you games.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure the current setup has the ability to execute either.

When Todd Graham was hired this board was convinced that Steve Peterson had nothing to do with it. It was a Board of Trustees hire and was the best thing to happen to Pitt since Jackie Sherrill.

And when he left a year later it was of course, all Steve Pederaon’s fault.

Pederson was so excited for Graham that he originally reached out to Al Golden.

Get your facts straight

No crap. I say this all the time.

If Narduzzi isn't going to recruit well, why should he be here? He's certainly not going to outcoach anyone

Let’s be real. Pitt goes through a parade of bad hires. Then they actually hire someone who does a good job overall. Pitt fans become disgruntled because they think they can do better. The coach leaves. The program goes downhill. Rinse and repeat.
This.....
