As he sat in the Heinz Field post-game press conference room after Pitt’s 59-21 loss to Oklahoma State on Saturday, Dennis Briggs hit a point where he didn’t know what else to say.

“I mean, this type of thing sucks,” the redshirt junior safety said to a small group of reporters. “You know what I mean? It just really sucks.”

Feel bad for him. Great kid. He's being put in a position where he doesn't have a chance to succede and he's getting blown away in front of thousands every week. His idiot coach can only say "We need to recruit better."

Right now, Briggs is the underscore of what happens when a program applies discipline outside the bell curve. Well, the ugly side of the curve, obviously. Not the happy side whooping it up at a giant party (with a cloud of sweet smoke over it, undoubtedly).

He arguably shouldn't be in D1, but certainly not starting against probably the best passing attack in college football right now (and possibly much of pro football too).
