Not giving up on the team.

Johnson can and needs to play better. Let him sit a little here and there to impress that fact on him.

Trey, Murphy and Champagnie have played OK.

Drumgoole can't be that bad, Can he? Toney needs to play for a variety of reasons, but needs to pick it up. At least finish his dunks.

Brown is who he is. I think Hamilton can contribute some. I would play Coulibaly too

I think all of us want Pitt to all of a sudden transform from one of the worst D1 teams in the country to be the Pitt of old during JDs BE years , face it , it just is not going to happen overnight . Those teams were composed of both physically and mentally mature players who earned their minutes battling upperclassmen everyday in practice for PT , they weren’t comprised of elite recruits . By the time they were jr and seniors they were far better bb players than they were as freshman and sophomores. What those teams lacked in talent they made up with the experience of playing in a successful system and simply being far more physically mature than their opposition . Mix in some talented newcomers and now you’ve got something .

This is a very young and inexperienced team that lacks upperclassmen leadership and a very important skill to win bb games , they can’t shoot ! I truly believe that in time JC will get the right mix of players in here , that combine the skill and experience needed to be good team , it’s just going to take a few yrs to get there . Pitt no matter whose been the HC hasn’t attracted top bb talent except during the Golden Panther era , so without booster involvement there’s no quick fixes . Until Pitt can successfully recruit the likes of RJD and Timberlakes there will be no quick fixes and they have to win to attract better players .

This team will get better and win some games , but they’re not a tournament team yet .

But , but , but wait... I thought we had the guards who coach lets take over a game at will and win no matter what right? I thought all this talent was ready for a final four run lol?

The inability to score and shoot is certainly troubling for the rest of the season. Even against Robert Morris they had a 17-0 run against them. The season has been disappointing so far.

I see three options for the difficulties.

Confidence. This is fixable. This seems to make the most sense that the team as a whole, being young, lacks confidence. That may explain X's poor free throw shooting and other issues. It is also surprising as the team had a lot of swagger last year.

Chemistry. This team obviously does not have all the pieces that Capel wants. The lack of size and big man skill is an obvious hindrance. All of us have played pick up ball and watched five guys run a court for games that were less talented than the challengers, but just had the right pieces of rebounders, passers, and a shooter. This may not improve much this year until pieces are added.

Coaching. I am not questioning Capel's abilities or the future of the program. I think Pitt BB is in fine hands. However, so far with this team there have been a lot of plays with no pass to the open man, going for the spectacular play rather than the fundamental play (Ex. missed alley oops on 3 on 1(s), missed breakaway dunks such as Trey taking off from the foul line) and players trying to do too much on own (Trey forcing the 3 at end of first half with no ball movement). Can Capel get through to these guys or will the confidence and chemistry issues hinder his voice getting through?

I still think there will be some good moments and good wins this year, it just looks like there are going to be more low spots than anticipated.

You're a bowl of cheerios this morning aren't ya? To aid in your misery, I'd suggest standing on your two stubby feet, locate a brick wall, bend over halfway, and run as fast as you can into said brick wall.

When complete, I'll need you to immediately post here for further evaluation.
