Thoughts??

Interesting though I’m not sure what to make of it yet.

Seems Pelusi was on the side of not firing Lyke and it’s pretty vague what his position on NIL is. Saying there’s a disagreement without further meat on the bone it’s difficult to know what the actual dispute is?

Hard to tell who’s right or wrong here without more info but at the very least it appears that Pelosi has been very generous to the university. Why on earth would you appear to go out of your way to piss someone like that off? All the dude was asking for was documents to keep him informed. What are they Hiding?

The response from Pitt is what you’d expect from arrogant elitist ivory tower egg heads

I told my buds the day Greene was hired that he doesnt know what he has stepped in.

The guy has been around way too much success to put up with the gang that couldn't shoot straight.

Hard to go against a guy who's bled blue and gold his entire life. He's done a lot for this university and especially athletics.

Starting to wonder if hiring Gabel will end up being a disaster. Was not impressed at all with her at the AD's introductory press conference. The timing of the Lyke firing was odd, and then there was the weird handling of Dior.

Who are these "arrogant elitist ivory tower egg heads" that you refer to?

You said it well. Leave it to the Pitt egghead bureaucracy to push away a long time Pitt guy and donor because it was "annoying" or "difficult" to deal with him when they weren't required to do so.

At least our board doesn't litigate the legacy of a dead and disgraced football coach decades after his death

This shit literally happens everywhere. Greene probably thinks this is child’s play after what he had to deal with at auburn

Are you serious? The woman has proved she is all in on football and NIL. Lyke could care less about it. None of you have any idea on what is going on. It doesnt sound like Pelusi is all in on NIL.

It amazes me how people will jump the gun on one way, without any facts, and start throwing darts at the board.

I am 100% serious, and I don't think she's proven anything on football and NIL yet. If you know something to the contrary, please feel free to share.

I haven't seen a single thing from Gabel regarding NIL, other than stories about how she wants more outside funding for athletics and that's why Lyke was canned. Not what I'd consider all in, but I guess we shall see.

Pelusi is one of the most loyal Pitt guys around, has donated millions over the years and has programs named after his family. This sh!t doesn't need to end up in court and I'll continue to wonder what the real problem is here. Some sort of power play going on?

At this point, I think she wants a fundraiser that will keep her from having to worry over the budget and not someone whose priority is winning programs.

Who knows really. What we do know is they pissed off a significant donor and the timing to the AD hiring was odd and the whole Dior thing was odd as well

I guess we’ll find out how good or bad she is as we move forward but this pissing contest with Pelusi seems unnecessary and counter productive

It might be those things but being on a board with such vast responsibilities requires members to be well informed as they are bound by legal duties. This is really even true for small little community boards as well. It's not common to need a lawsuit to do that job but occasionally it is necessary. I've been involved in some board dust ups and have come close to a similar action. Good governance is a legal responsibility and if Pelusi has been around a while, I'm certain he understands his role.

Thoughts:

*It’s definitely a power play move. As a man who has donated millions of dollars to the University, he feels he has a right to any document that he has requested. In most big-time football schools, his request would have been given to him without hesitation.

*The attitude of the BOT’s has not changed over the years. In their view, they’re running an institution of higher learning, and they operate as such. They haven’t a clue as to how the NIL affects the University.

*As I said in the past, Heather was very well liked (no bun intended) among the big donors. Pelusi was definitely among those people. You are now seeing that come to light.

*As someone else already mentioned, this is ANOTHER example of Pitt shooting themselves in the foot. The eggheads ruin most everything they touch.

*Finally, someone needs to check John Verbanac’s bank account….💰

Bingo!

These BOT's have BIG egos. "Nobody is going to demand anything from us! We run this institution! It's not about football all the time!"
That's how they think....

Donors will always want a voice. They're not raising money and giving money just they can shut up and go away. Pelusi is a good Pitt man and what he's requesting should be honored. The major donors are a tight knit group. I believe Pelusi when he says there are some major money sitting on the table. These stupid asses need to realize that fundraisers are just as important as the BOT's whether they like it or not...

The BOT's should quietly resolve this problem with Pelusi ASAP. If they don't, this will go down as another major catastrophe.

I have said this for years people complain about the Pitt football head coach it's always been the Pitt administration that has held the football program back. It starts at the top.

Can someone provide a clear answer? It sounded like Lyke was push out because she didn't emphasize NIL but now the Board and Gable are in a spat with Pelusi for not supporting NIL enough? What am I missing?

Also, the Pitt attorney with some pretty insulting comments about about the Emeritus Trustee position.
