Pitt had a number of recruits in attendance for the first practice of spring camp on Monday. Here’s a look at who was there.

Sidwar is a 2026 recruit - currently a sophomore - but we’ll mention him first because he’s a quarterback and quite possibly the No. 1 prospect at that position in the state for the 2026 class. He’s got a bunch of Power Four offers already, with Duke, Maryland, Syracuse and Virginia Tech already on board, and Pitt joined that group on Monday with an in-person offer from Kade Bell.

“He said he watched my film and really likes me,” Sidwar told Panther-Lair.com. “I was very thankful and appreciative towards Coach Bell.”

Sidwar liked what he saw from Pitt’s first practice in Bell’s offense.

“I think they had a good day and got some good work in,” he said. “[Monday] was a lot of quick game but they are going to space the field and get the QBs easy completions. Take shots when the defense gives certain looks. Coach Bell wants to throw the ball.”

As a sophomore last season, Sidwar completed 65% of his passes for 2,439 yards and 29 touchdowns. He figures to be one of the top prospects in Pennsylvania’s 2026 class, and Pitt is in early with an offer.

Lennon is a tight end prospect from Cleveland who visited Pitt for the first time on Monday.

“It went great,” Lennon told us. “Nice facilities and great coaches.”

Pitt offered Lennon in early February, and new tight ends coach Jacob Bronowski has been leading the charge in his recruitment.

“I like Coach a lot,” Lennon said. “He’s really genuine and shows he really wants me to go there and wants me to succeed in not just football as well.”

Pitt was the sixth school to offer Lennon and the second school from a power conference to do so, following Kentucky, who offered on the same day. Indiana, Boston College and Virginia Tech have subsequently offered since then.

Lennon is a big playmaker, and last season he caught 32 receptions for 750 yards and 11 touchdowns. That’s an average of 23.4 yards per catch and one touchdown on every 2.9 receptions - not bad for a guy who lists himself at 6’5” and 220 pounds.

Lennon told me he hopes to return to Pitt for an official visit in June.

Yates was in town on Monday with one of the assistant coaches at Matoaca High School, Sonny Claytor.

Claytor told me that he and Yates were at Pitt for a one-day visit - not part of a larger tour - and they were impressed with what they saw.

“We enjoyed it,” Claytor said. “Beautiful place with great people and coaches. A lot of opportunity there, for sure.”

Yates got an offer from Pitt in December, and he’s also got Power Four offers from Duke and Maryland. He already scheduled an official visit to Duke for the weekend of June 14-16, and Claytor told me that Yates set up an official visit to Pitt for June 6-8.

Yates isn’t big - 6’0” 170 - but he produced in a big way for Matoaca last season, earning first-team all-state honors after catching 79 passes for 1,193 yards and 18 touchdowns in addition to picking off six passes on defense.
