Offensive Coordinator from North Dakota. Many consider him one of the top up and coming pro style, power run minds in football. Young, hard-nosed, blue collar. Google him.

My concern with someone with his resume is recruiting. He's never had to recruit at the P5 level and I think that is one of the areas where Canada was lacking.

Interesting name. He did coach up Carson Wentz. He does run a prolific, pro style offense. Has not recruited at P5 level, but who knows. He does have a nice resume and is young.

Yep. It could work out either way, but if this is the direction we went, I would really hope we find a spot for a lights out recruiter, as well.

Canada didn't recruit so who cares,I'm sure he can adjust and learn
Yeah, but our recruiting wasn't doing well with that set up and needs to get better.

Why does he need P5 recruiting experience? Either you are a good recruiter or you are not. If he recruited well at his level, then he is likely to recruit well at this level.

Who is he really recruiting at his level? You are scouting, hoping, and coaching. You aren't in actual recruiting battles.

Well, from all accounts he's a ridiculously good coach, he's a high energy guy so I'm sure that would appeal to recruits. Besides, instant credibility when he can sit in a living room and say, "yeah, I coached the the QB who was the 2nd overall pick in the NFL draft, my offense racks up almost 500 yards a game, and I have 2-3 FCS national championship rings." Winners are going to win.

Because nobody else wants any players that NDS wants?

Of course you are in recruiting battles. Just not with 3-4-5 star players. You still have to identify players and get them to come to your school.

Someone like him might leave room to also upgrade someone on d.

He would be a very good candidate, But two things
1. If you are going to make this type of hire you don't "leave some room to upgrade the D" you pay him what you can and make it a couple year deal, complete with buyouts. He is a young up and comer you don't pay him 250k because you can and then hope when he has success he wants to stay! Pay him now and make it so you can guarantee he is here at least 2 years.
2. We all know how coaching searches are conducted and it typically isn't finding the best candidates from around the country. Its who has ties to what coaches. Coaches will typically hire someone they know.

Yeah, identifying and winning recruiting battles are completely different animals. At our level identifying the players is much, much easier. Winning the recruiting battles is a much harder task.
